Diego Poyet

Thought he was excellent today. Broke up play really well, move the ball around nicely and can go past a player. Best player on the pitch! How old is he? When is his contract up?

  • Totally agree. He seemed to even be bossing Morro and Wood! Well done Diego, a bright future for sure.
  • Played well above his years. Someone in the post match thread said he had an average game, can't wait to see him play well then.

I think it was only one person who said he was average. Probably "Blind Pugh". He and Cousins give me some hope for the future - IF RD doesn't flog them

Hopefully we can keep hold of him and Cousins?!

Played brilliant. One thing I thought is for their second goal he should have fouled the player he was chasing and accepted a yellow card, would have stopped them scoring the second. Hopefully learns. Bright prospect!

Impressed that he was comfortable with the pace of the game. Whenever I've seen him play for the Development Team, he looked as if he needed too much time and space on the ball. His passing ability shone through today and he shows the ability to direct the play, which will develop with experience.
Would like to see him in a partnership with Cousins.

Very mature player for his age. He played today like he had 100 games under his belt. Bright future.
  • 18?? Wow! He tracked his runners very well too
  • Played very well today. Made a few sloppy passes at the end of the second half, but was still a stand out player. Looking forward to seeing more of him, think he could be a real Charlton great.

  • Central midfield with Cousins. We can't push Jordan wide to accommodate Johnnie I'm afraid. Those two are the future.
  • Very good game. He won't be around long.
  • take a bow lad great debut

Is there enough guile, creativity and drive in that partnership though? If yes, then they should be first choice.

I personally would like to see something like this

    Hamer

    Wilson MM Wood Wiggo

    Poyet Cousins

    Rez AA Harriott/Loanee

    PP
  • Impressive facial hair for someone only 18 as well...

He and Cousins coming through simultaneously could be a blessing. But playing one or the other out of position in favour of Jackson weakens what can potentially be one of the best midfield pairings we have had in a long time.
  • He was by far the most impressive player on the pitch today. Couldn't have had a better debut. Hope he lifts the rest of the team with his efforts.
  • If RD doesn't sell Poyet and Cousins (and assuming they want to stay) we could have a very promising midfield in a short number of years. It seems Powell is trying to get a young squad (Poyet, Cousins, Lennon, Parzyszek) to gel and know each other's football, call me an optimist but I think it could work

    When does his contract expire
  • He was outstanding. Composed and influential. Needs a partner and that's not JJ.

I have been asking the same question since last week on here and other sites and nobody has ever answered. There must be somewhere CAFC keeps contract details of players we can look at?

You have to be in the clique to be privy to anything regarding our club remember.
  • Players who are in the right place at the right time and have time on the ball are a rarity. I thought he was outstanding and Brum did their best to clatter him a few times which did not put him off at all.
  • Would love to see him and Cousins play together in the centre.Yes they are both young, yes they will make mistakes, but it will be bloody lovely and exciting.
  • What a player really impressed future captain in the making
  • Best player on the pitch today. Such intelligent play for someone so young. Glad he is getting a chance to show what he can do and long may it continue.

Looked a class player, Poyet, Cousins and AA would cause problems.
