Yeah that was unpleasant. Did you think the finale was a bit rushed? Looked like they literally had it in fast forward in places. In fact it is in danger of feeling a bit rushed in general I think. Sam's been in the Citadel 5 minutes and on screen about 4 times and already done two things is of significance having spent 6 seasons doing not a great deal.
I actually think your spot on with the rushing part.
Don't get me wrong the plot is solid and every storyline is really interesting. It just feels like they've realised they need to start wrapping everything up which has led to some storylines being cut short etc.
With all that said I thought last nights episode was much stronger than the season opener. The Missandei scene was especially interesting.
They would've planned all this plot some time ago, Benioff and Weiss are familiar with what Martin has planned. I think you're right in that they clearly had to thin the herd, and maybe this is a diversion from the books for that reason. They've got a lot of story to squeeze in.
I would say the pacing seems a little strange at times, as you say there is a lot of story to tell, yet last week we had Sheeran and this week labouring grey worm not being able to get it on. It's interesting because at times the editing they have done to the books, like Bran and Sansa, seemed like good decisions but it has gutted characters from Dorne and other pay-offs that Martin has building for a long time. Baelish has been downgraded as the grand orchestrator and doesn't really have a purpose in the TV show any more as a result.
I thought the Naval Battle was one of the best I have seen and the show continues to set a new standard.

I thought the Arya & wolves scene was more pointless than the Grey Worm scene which at least scored us our first boobs of the season.

Least consistent accent since Littlefinger turned Irish, mind.
At worst they've given themselves such little time to wrap it up they're moving faster than we're used to (journeys used to take a whole season now it's one scene to the next). But I'm not complaining. Every scene was either a sweet pay off or another set up and that's fun (the wolves will return, that wasn't a pointless aside). When they do slow down to focus on character, you get the Grey Worm scene. They had to pay that relationship off, and it was tastefully done.
As for Littlefinger, my guess is he's on standby until Jon leaves. He still wants the throne, and Sansa is his best shot. Nobody that's sided with Danearys wants the throne, but Sansa and Littlefinger may well do.
I think we should have a bit of faith in the writes here. They've been planning it for years. If a character is in the show, it'll be for good reason.

nah, definitely an important scene. what's more badass than Arya Stark? Arya Stark with Nymeria and a pack of wolves
the 'that's not you' line was clearly relevant. maybe it was Bran warging into her?

Drove me mad that. Jon violently threatens the bloke well known for being the most conniving, untrustworthy, backstabbing shits in the world and then leaves him alone in his house with his little 'sister' who the bloke just said he was after. All Stark men are basically massive idiots and they deserve everything they get and more

Haha true! Maybe Jon should tell Brienne to keep him away!
I like Euron too - good to have a less 'psycho' villain (as opposed to Ramsey, Joffrey) and more of a charismtic funny one. And anyone who starts killing off Sand Snakes but leaves the one with the fantastic rack is a bit of a hero.
Least consistent accent since Littlefinger turned Irish, mind.
Euron is played by a danish actor named Pilou Asbæk. Considering English is not his mother tongue I think he is doing a reasonable job with the accent.

I know the actor is Danish, but the accent does slip between English, Scandanavian and American.

I really haven't noticed up until now. That said the character Euron is pretty unstable so I guess a mixed up accent is kind of acceptable.

It's all make believe.
Yet sometimes people might comment on the storyline or the acting.
Im not sure why they think they need to rush everything now...surely the series is still as popular as it was a season or two ago...I was left thinking that they were trying to cram a quart into a pint pot at the end of episode 2.
Daenerys character has become very cold too....must be that damp cold castle doesnt sit well after her trip abroad.
Sad to see 2 of the sand snakes go, they were a bit of fun.

Luckily Jon is only part Stark and Sansa is easily smart enough to handle herself.
Really enjoyed yesterdays episode, brilliant finale but do agree it could have lasted a bit longer. I heard on the radio this morning, that episodes 3,5 & 7 are absolute crackers, so roll on next week

Good battle at the end, strong attack from Euron
Funny that.
Id be surprised if thats the last we see of her Wolf....

Definitely the hottest.
