Or it could be the case that they shoot the Dragon with the spear but there massive and powerful that it doesn't work and they then realise there shagged!
If we were in the last episode then I'd say that's more likely. There's too much time left for Dany to steamroller through KL and take the throne.
Also think it's more likely Bran will be forced to warg into a dragon, perhaps if Dany refuses the call of the north. Hence "You will never walk again, but you will fly."
This for me. How many episodes this season? 10 or 12? There's only 7 in the final season, but 1.30hr in length
7 this season and 5 in season 8! ridiculous and selfish haha!
That's poor. So we've only got 5 more episodes this season :-(
Running times are longer for episodes this season and next. A HBO executive suggested that next year might be up to two hours an episode. When you add it all up it will still be roughly 20 hours for the final two seasons.

That and the CG budgets are going to be pretty astronomical.. Should be brilliant!
Are any of the episodes actually longer this season? Whilst it's good to have no real filler one of the things I've always liked with GOT is that things were given a bit of time to develop. Seems like this season everything is a bit crash bang wallop and moving a bit too fast
Probably an unpopular opinion because this season is getting its usual rave reviews online , but I just am not enjoying this season as much as I thought I would.
I don't get why the writers are spending so much time on such menial story lines ( Grey Worm and Missandei, Cersei and the Sand snakes etc) yet completely skipping over fight scenes. Honestly aside from the last 10 minutes and any screen time Euron had I was pretty bored. Dialogue this season seems slightly off too, apart from when Tyrion, Jamie and Euron are on screen I very rarely feel convinced by the actors

It would be one big battle after the next from now until the end of the series with so few episodes left, add in budgetary restrictions and they have no option but to pick and choose. I thought last weeks sea battle was visually stunning and at least we are no longer getting it POV from an unconscious character any more!

You know what, I loved the way Tyrion narrated the battle at casterly rock

I think that was actually really well done, my biggest problem was how Highgarden, one of the strongest and richest houses in westeros fell seemingly in minutes and we saw absolutely none of it
In the "end show" recap with the writers, the decision to not show the Highgarden battle itself was made to underline the fact that, though they were the richest they aren't known for their fighting prowess, so showing the battle would be meaningless... it was a forgone conclusion.
I still don't get why it's all being rushed....it's spoiled it a bit for me if I'm honest. All 6 seasons to build up to a hurried finish. It's like they suddenly ran out of money or interest.
- plan, plan, plan , Months, sometimes years go into this stage.
- Suddenly you're a week away from going and despite planning you haven't really done anything yet, unless your name is Jon or Dany... So the panic starts to set in and everything seems hurried or rushed... (Seasons 1-5)
- The 3 days of work before you go seem to go as smooth as possible. Only downside is your big mate... Let's call him Hodor drops out... he's ill - apparently (You all know his Mrs is there holding the door shut so he can't go...) RIP. Thank god that you had planned the prep. (We'll call this season 6)
- Suddenly you're on your flight (possibly by dragon), you've already had a skinfull at the airport and it's all going off. The lads are getting rowdy and rushing into bars as soon as you landed.
They've prepared for what they know... Magaluf(Westeros ) is not what they know...
- Mid way through the stag, you don't know wtf is going on all around you as it's all happening so fast. There are bodies splayed out throughout your hotel and all round the pool.
Some you expected to do better (Oberyn & Robb for a start)... others seem to have survived (Theon & Bran) when you thought they'd definitely perish/hide in the hotel as the long night comes... yet they're there with you. (This and the last point are definitley season 7 - SO FAR).
- NO IDEA WHAT HAPPENS HERE THIS IS SEASON 8
- Stag (TV SHOW DONE) Over,
you're on your way home, back to reality with a feeling of emptiness as the realisation is there that all this build up, (8 years of watching the show is over... It was worth it, you loved it. )A year or so of prepping for the main event, the build up, the banter, the funny midget that drank you all under the table... It's all over... Until your next mate gets married (Or you find another series to watch that is even half as gripping)
TLDR - Most things that take years of build up feel rushed through in the final act. Doesn't mean that it won't all be worthwhile.
(P.S don't go pointing out all the missed plot points - it's not a direct comparison! )
(P.P.S - What if White Walker Hodor takes on the Undead Mountain as part of the final season? - Merely a thought that ws conjured whilst writing this)
With Cersei having enjoyed 2 "wins" thus far via Euron's fleet & Jamie leading the attack on High Garden, I'm thinking there must be a mole in Daenarys' camp. It was far too convenient that the Dorne girls got attacked and killed/captured along with the Greyjoy girl. Plus knowing Castlery Rock would be attacked and taking High Garden at the same time. Could Varys be up to his old tricks??

I don't think Varys is the problem, I think it's someone else as Varys is too obvious... (Varys I think may end up getting Grilled by Dany and then maybe again by her Dragons)
Was it Qyburn who started to steal all of Varys' 'little birds'?
Was Jorah the only spy to work for Cersei?
What happened to the warrior Dany 'loved' Daario? Could he as a scorned love interest be working for Cersei?

Didn't Jamie just say he learnt from his failures and adapted strategy as such? Not sure there is anything else to it.

Am i the only person who has watched every episode but is totally confused about what's going on, who is where and who wants to kill who? For me the whole thing has been a couple of really great episodes mixed in with a load of waffle. Not even in my top 10 of tv series.
Honestly aside from the last 10 minutes and any screen time Euron had I was pretty bored. Dialogue this season seems slightly off too, apart from when Tyrion, Jamie and Euron are on screen I very rarely feel convinced by the actors
totally not how I saw it
thought it was a great episode, though a bit weird as not a lot seemed to happen yet absolutely loads happened at the same time
the throne room scene was great, loved Davos and Emilia Clarke has totally become Dany
Sam was great, Cersei's revenge was great. I even liked the Bran and Sansa scene even though I don't really like either character
I was slightly disappointed at the end as I wanted Jaime to have pulled a double bluff and not used poison but guess that's not really his style
3 decent episodes so far, not as good as people are making it out to be though, all expected stuff so far. No Tyrions speech or Red Wedding type moment yet.
Hopefully we get to see the Hound and the Mountain have a scrap by seasons end
I think the last two seasons have seen a modest, continual drop in quality.
And this is my theory why...
Starting last season the screenwriters had gone past the release of books written by George RR Martin and were essentially... on their own.
I hear Martin told them essentially what would happen. But being told what would happen and then writing the dialogue and details is a lot different than using Martin's books as the literal foundation of each episode.
In other words...George RR Martin writes better than the screenwriters.
Comments
Euron with the best lines again.
I think Cersei is going to win...

'Pleased to see you too...'
