  • It’s painful. Had a not nice day and just want to get home. Fed up. It’s so frequently shite
  • Everything was great at Denmark Hill if that helps?
  • They need to demolish Lewisham station and start again with it to be honest (and I say that as a commuter who lives a 5 min walk away from the station)

    Those Danes are pretty good.

    last night was painful
leave work at 5pm have alerts on as they are so shit my 5.34 train was cancelled from victoria so stayed on to charing cross, the 5.48 eventually left charing cross at 6.15 then the train was diverted between sidcup and barnehust 5 times on the way to london bridge eventually at lewisham it was confirmed in the drivers words " we aint going bexleyheath and all that now but were finishing at crayford sorry but they keep changing there mind", eventually getting to crayford at 7.16!, fucking useless

the other comical part was the app and stations say different, the app said singalling problems the station board says emergency engineering work, the lewisham signals are obviously fucked/knackered and the constant blaming of network rail is ridiculous the guts of 3k a year to be told "its someone elses fault"

they were advertising on there twitter page last night for 2 customer relation postions to handle complaints - run a decent firm and they would not be required c**ts

the only highlight was some cheeky chappy type - leading the revolt shouting down his phone about the ongoing issues to his mrs, and telling some posh bird who quite rudely asked where is this train going and his response was fucking Edinburgh
  • Here's today's excuse in advance, it's not been fixed properly, it's someone else's fault, give us your money:

  • I have been quite fortunate to have been able to get through vast amounts of working years never having to endure the shit trains we have

But over the last four months twice a week I have had to deal with southeastern rail and I don’t understand how they keep swapping what platform my train leaves from done it again this morning god forbid you have your head phones on and are not paying attention like I was the first time they done it , now I dare not take my eyes off the announcers board fucking pricks running the service

In other words shoot the messenger and everything will be alright!

Hasn't worked on my line. South West Trains (SWT) was replaced with Slightly Worse Railway (SWR) and ABSOLUTELY NOTHING has changed. (Except the guards strike on most Saturdays!).

All that has been achieved is moving the bottleneck back to the Lewisham/HIther Green area, remember when you just used to sit outside London Bridge for 10-15mins in the mornings, now it's just signal failure/congestion every day in the Lewisham/Hither Green area.

However many billions was spent on London Bridge was just an utter waste of money.

Giving the benefit of the doubt it is pure incompetence, otherwise it's just pure graft and backhanders. I can find no other explanation of why so much money was spent on a project that that does nothing to improve the journey's of hundreds of thousands of people.

Makes it worse even if you need to go from the national rail platforms to the underground - almost defies physics how they've managed to get them so much further apart.

Used to be bosh, down the 2 escalators and you're there. Now you end up going down into what looks like the Temple level from N64 Goldeneye, through a minature Westfield, right, left and you're where you would have started beforehand.

This is the sole reason for the redevelopment, shops bring in money for Network Rail.

Network Rail is totally owned by the UK government who can probably find easier ways to print money than renting out a few shops!

The failings of the London Bridge project are surely down to a lack of accountability caused by the government doing something knowing that they will not be blamed when anything goes wrong. They simply say it was somebody else's fault and carry on doing more stupid things.

Something obviously needed to be done at LB to create more capacity but it would have been better to have people in charge who cared about the passengers and were not just ticking boxes.

Guards' strike is arrant lunacy by RMT apparently to get many of their members lots of unpaid leave at weekends and bank holidays.
SWR no great improvement on SWT apart from off peak travel into London and late evening journeys out from town; they have been running adequately long services to much better match demand than the shameless penny pinching perpetrated by the previous bandits as their contract ran down.
  • Last night was almost comical. Got on the Bexleyheath line train at Cannon St, all normal and no issues. Just as we're about to leave, a passenger - not a member of staff or an announcement - tells us that the train is being diverted down the Sidcup line. Sure enough, the sign on the platform now reads Dartford via Sidcup. Not a huge deal as it just so happens that my wife is in Sidcup on Wednesday evenings taking our son swimming. So I message her and she will pick me up from Sidcup.

We get as far as Lewisham and a passenger gets off only to get back on again and tell us that the train is now back on the Bexleyheath line. Again, a passenger! Not a member of staff or an announcement. We eventually get to Welling 25 minutes late and I get back home just after the wife who had been hanging around in Sidcup unnecessarily.

Absolute fucking joke and throughout the entire farce there was not a single announcement on the train.

You Sir, are spot on. To fix Lewisham would take an awful long time and there's little chance any trains could run through while the upgrade took place so it's just not going to get done anytime soon.
  • They were literally diverting trains without telling passengers before or during some journeys last night.
  • Was I the only one who appreciated the diversion last night? Usually I have to change at Lewisham from Victoria to get on a train to Sidcup... Don't know what everyone is complaining about ;)

Yep, the destination for my one changed several times across the course of the journey. At London Bridge the driver was giving conflicting advice to platform staff which meant people were jumping on and off in total confusion. The driver apologised for getting it wrong - could have been serious if he had to steer the thing :-)
  • The train driver this morning g in the 8.22 (late) from Westcombe Park into Cannon Street (dunno where it starts tbf) was comedy gold.

He comes on the Tannoy just after Dartford to say there are a few things he would like to bring to our attention.

Firrstly he would like to apologise for the late running which was due to congestion in the way out of London. So far thanks Drives, nice to have some communication.

Secondly ‘Just to let you know, I have turned off the heating on the train. In my past experience as a commuter into the City I know full well that on a full train like this gets very hot even in the winter and we don’t need the heating on you would get too hot so I always turn it off once the train gets full. However if you would like it back on please do let me know.’

Ok Drives, but more information than strictly required but nice touch.

Finally, ‘Please do not attempt to board the train as the doors are closing. It slows down the train, it is disrespectful to fellow passengers, and it is dangerous. There could be an accident or fatality and no one wants that. Also it is illegal, it is illegal under...’ goes on to quite three Railway Acts with two of them before 1850 under which it is illegal...’ so please wait for the next train in future it is safer and it is legal.’

‘I’ll get you into London Bridge and Cannon Street as soon as I can and apologies for the late running of this service.’

    Proper Charlton Drives.

How did you hear the announcement just after Dartford, when you boarded at Westcombe Park ?
Is this an entry for the DNHOTY awards ?

That's what gets me. You get all this completely unnecessary crap but when something is actually going proper Pete Tong, like last night, there's not so much as a whisper out of the PA system.

    CUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All of which goes to prove, amongst other things, that the three month debate that I had a couple of years ago with customer services (see earlier in this thread somewhere ) where they swore blind that train drivers were unable to switch off the heating which in fact was not heating at all but air conditioning etc etc is in fact complete nonsense. Arseholes.
  • Deptford not dartford.
  • edited January 2019
Police incident at Charlton so diverted from blackheath down the bexleyheath line. Train was supposed to go to Slade green and presumably round the loop, but driver has given end destination as barnehurst only.

If Charlton is actually closed this will obviously screw up all routes everywhere!
