Must not let them score first coz if they do, they win. Charlton 1-2 Reading :0(0
-
Agree- the key to this game (for both sides) will be not conceding the first goal.0
-
I'll be reasonably happy with a draw but knowing Charlton we won't make things easy for ourselves. I fully expect a situation to emerge where we have to win the last game of the season to stay up. Anything else just isn't Charlton !0
-
Given Reading's prowess away from home, I'd be happy with a draw. Difficult to understand how they've only taken 3 points from the last 18 at home.
As others have said, Jose has played Poyet, Cousins and Jacko in each game and he'll have to mix and match at some stage. If he can get them through the next two games, I suspect we may see a couple of changes for the Brighton game (not that we are blessed with many options).
I expect we'll play a fairly cagey game on Saturday and keep it tight.1 -
If we play a decent side our lack of quality shows up so expect a 2-0 defeat.
Wife is at a spa day so torn between taking both kids or just watching us melt from our sofa.
Yeovil is the big one..0 -
0-0 does no one any favours.0

Maybe you could take one for the team and not listen tomorrow, just in case it is jinxing us!JessieAddick said:
Same here. I've so far listened to the Burnley and Derby games, both of which ended 0-3. I'll listen tomorrow but to be honest won't be too surprised if it's another 0-3 loss. I was disappointed last Saturday by the team's performance but in hindsight, it probably didn't seem all that bad - we were going to lose anyway and Riga might see the Leeds game as a much more winnable one and made the players physically and mentally more prepared for the latter. So, I wouldn't be as upset as last Saturday if we lose to Reading as long as it means we beat Yeovil next Tuesday.Bangkokaddick said:We haven't won a single game that I have listened to on Player. In fact we have lost them all. Away this weekend so probably won't listen so perhaps a better result.
Or maybe not. Expecting to lose this one.
PS. Gotta give our players (and Riga of course) some credit I think. Two games a week for nealy two months is really hard work... not to mention we're playing for survival instead of sitting comfortably in mid-table. If we manage to stay up and keep the better players at the club, I will definitely look forward to the next season with optimism.

Reading are a decent side away from home so I would certainly take a draw, beating Yeovil on Tuesday night is the key.

Reading's excellent away form has to end at some point and I am sure the teams just below them will be looking at Charlton to do them a favour. A draw would be great especially if other results go our way. 2-2 and at long last we get 50% off Papa John pizzas for scoring two goals, yey!!1

Three points minimum required from Reading and Yeovil. Preferably four with the three coming against Yeovil. Even further, six would be lovely. I'm not asking for too much am I?1
-
Reading (3 points), Yeovil (3), Brighton (1), Barnsley (3). 10 points and almost certainly safe.0
-
I don't think AA & JJ can do 3 games in a week, and seeing as Tuesday is more important I see at least one of them not starting tomorrow. Reading will be too strong for us and a 2-0 defeat is the best I can see.0
-
1-1 - optimistic view, (Reading do have the odd performance every now and again) and 0-2 from the pessimistic side.
I would be happy with a point - Yeovil is the key game to get a result in. If Charlton get anything from tomorrow, it will help with Tuesday's game.1 -
I really don't understand why people would be happy with a draw. If we can beat forest and leeds away, we can beat reading at home.
1-0 home win, 92nd minute goal2 -
Reading better away from home. So either 0-0 or 0-1 to them0

Obviously, 3 points and a 4-0 home win against Reading, another 3 points against Yeovil and victories in every game Charlton played would be best.
Reading have won 4 out of the last 5 away games. Charlton have been heavily defeated and outclassed by teams in form such as Leicester, Burnley and Derby. Though getting good results against out of form teams such as QPR (when we played them), Forest and Leeds (who were bottom of the form table and in some turmoil). The team / squad is not that strong. Charlton are playing 2 games a week, and there is likely to some squad rotation that doesn't allow the strongest team to be played (whatever that is). Particularly with a very important game against Yeovil on Tuesday.
I have watched some dismal defeats and performances through out the season, particularly at the Valley on a Saturday. I don't think my comment was controversial considering as most on the the thread are expecting a defeat.
Obviously, a win is best and that is what I am hoping for and Reading do turn up with the odd poor performance but yes given the circumstances - I would be happy with a draw. 3 points against Yeovil would be very valuable given Yeovil's position.
Apologies if I have upset the happy police with a bit of realism.4 -

I would be very happy with 3 Charlton points tomorrow though. That will do.0 -

Anyone predicting more than two goals for this game is in fairytale land I think.0 -
Chill out lads any return from tomorrow's game will be most welcomed from me. I don't do predictions on my team but am mildly optimistic after witnessing Tuesdays performance. If Obika starts instead of Pigott and we can reach the same standard we will get something from the game, trust me. COYRs0

I agree, we will obviously give this game our best shot but Riga will have one eye on Yeovil.vff said:

The back four will stay the same and Poyet-Cousins will stay but the real questions are around how he sets up the attacking third.
We now have Sordell, Reza, Obika, Pigott, Church and Astrit competing for places (with Astrit as a deep lying striker) so seeing how Riga mixes and matches will be very interesting.0 -
expecting a bit of rotation based on maximal performance vs. yeovil0

We've won away by scoring on the counter attack and a Royals m8 has confirmed that they have done the same when successful on the road.vff said:

This could be the proverbial Mexican standoff and yet another tight and cagey affair. As always first goal (if there is one) will be vital.1 -
And why not a win at Brighton if Mr Stephens doesn't jump at corners and allows Dervite to score.AddicksAddict said:
