We'll have to agree to differ SE9 - I see it as a joke, you see it as something more sinister. It's a joke because everyone knows it's ridiculous to suggest that all Brighton fans are gay.
WSS, that is an extreme example and I don't think it in any way proves your point. I really don't see that there is any "threat" in that song and I have never heard it lead to anything more offensive at any game I've been to. But I don't feel that strongly about this so I would prefer to leave it there.
I think you're missing the point here. The reason that some people considered the chant offensive isn't because it suggests that some fans who are actually straight are gay, it's because of the implication that being gay is a bad thing.
Copper was a bit OTT, but the op brought it on himself. A lot of back and forth on here about the incident and similar incidents, but the way that I see it is this.
Football fans might not think there's anything wrong with what they see as a 'bit of banter', but just because you don't get offended/scared by a bunch of pissed up arseholes bawling at each other in the street, that doesn't give you the right to tell other people not to. It's the same excuse trotted out when a bunch of England fans go abroad, take over a bar somewhere then spend the evening getting steadily pissed, shouting their bloody heads off, puking on the floor and bellowing 'no surrender' and god knows what else to anyone within hearing distance.
Simple lesson here: Don't think that just because you find something acceptable, everyone else has to.
Were you given any warning by the Police before they confiscated your ticket and told you to leave Brighton? My guess is that you were and you left that bit out of the story. If you were warned and then just carried on for a "laugh" as you say then I'm afraid you got what you deserved and probably less than you deserved for your subsequent behaviour. Trying to seek justification in what you describe as the more lenient treatment of Muslim extremists (for whom I have no sympathy whatsoever btw) is no justification whatsoever - two wrongs don't make a right.
I'm bored of keep saying it! NO i didn't get warned! My ticket got taken of me straight away, without warning! Hence the reason I'v been asking 'Was i hard done by'! Yes, i should of got arrested for breaching section 27. But, what iv been trying to get across is, should I at least had a warning....

Sorry, might of got this wrong (normally do), when the police "took" your ticket, did they say leave the area for 8 hour's ?
Saturday was the worst day of my life, i got my match ticket taken of me before game in Brighton highstreet for singing ' do your boyfriends know you here' with a mate, even brighton fans joined in, but the ticket got taken of my by police beacuse i was being homaphobic (lol), we was told to leave brighton for 8 hours, yes i should of left, but i came all the way to brighton so i thought i would chance getting ticket at ground. I go caught by a copper outside away end and he hancuffed me and my pal and through us in meatwagon and we got put in a cell till 11:30pm.
Yes some fans think its wrong to sing that, and others will agree its not, but what gets me is, every brighton fan i spoke to said they DO not find it in anyway offencive , and said its what all teams to they find it funny, its banter at end of the day.
Should i of got arrsested and match ticket taking of me? They said i was being worse than racist.
Also, how come Muslims extreamists can sing during a march from our soilders 'british soilders burn in hell' and our aloud to get away with it beacuse freedom of speach, but a i get pulled for singing a song, that noone found offencive, or no one reported??
worst away day ever.
oh and befor you all jump on the bandwagon, im not in anyway a 'hooligan' i go to games with my dad, have done for 14 years, the one away game i dont go with him this happens.
good old football aye
Again, apologies if I'm mistaken, but did you not "not listen/dis-obey" what you was told by a police officer ?
Since when did coppers have the power to force you to leave town? Thought this was Brighton, not the Wild West!
It's called a Section 27 Direction to leave. If you don't leave, then you get arrested for whatever anti social behaviour you had done before (usually just drunk and disorderly).

They're quite new I think.
Arachniphobia
Claustrophobia
Etc
This was a bit of bad humour gone wrong.
You made a stupid decision to sing a stupid song which has homophobic sentiments.
Would you go to Bradford and sing a song based on race due to the high number of Pakistani people living there?
Comments based on sexuality are as offensive to many as those that refer to religion, ethnicity or gender.
You made a couple of wrong calls on the day and have hopefully learned from it.
Beware for this weekend guys.
Good work.
"do you take it up the arse?" was the police version of events
Which tbh Is a bit forward for any serving officer to ask a prisoner,
Reminds me of the time I got 98 lol's on a post on here ... was gutted I didn't get it over the line :-(.
Reckon that would have been allright!
