I'd take him back. As good as Henderson is, he's only fit half of the time.

He's made of glass and it's cost us points this season. Points we wouldn't have lost with Hamer between the sticks.

Don't really see the point of being concerned about players no longer with the club.

In his time with us, im sure the saves made won us more points than mistakes that cost us points.

The bloke had an opportunity to join a premiership club, knowing that he wouldn't be first choice, but he must have had faith in his own ability to fight for the no 1 spot. So far that's not happened, but I'm sure schmichael will be on the move in the summer. if so, hamer will get the nod and Leicester have a good solid championship keeper.

Move on, he was not brave enough to be a keeper and a bit of a clown imo.

Well he is playing as a goalkeeper in the Premier League and actually broke records with his keeping for us when we won the league.

Suppose he should get a job as a dustman or an office worker instead.

Thought Ben Hamer was good, and potentially a very good keeper (gutted he left at the time), but i don't think we have missed him at all which is credit to Henderson.

i'd have him back ahead of Henderson, I'd definitely keep Hendo as a number 2.

Henderson over Hamer all day long IMO. Hamer had great distribution but coming for a cross was an accident waiting to happen sometimes. Henderson is calmness personified in the box. Hamer would be a great number 2 and with Hendersons fitness would probably end up getting similar playing time anyway.

    This.
Henderson knocks Hamer into a cocked hat imo.
Hendo is that rare breed of modern goalie who catches the ball - instils so much more confidence.
Best goalie we've had for an age

I was a fan of Ben Hamer but he was between 5 and 9 out of 10 most weeks
Where Stephen Henderson is between 7 to 8.5 out of 10, other than Wigan when Mac turned Wiggins inside out and scored from an acute angle plus Hendo is so much better at crosses than Ben.
Hamer could do Worldy's and was a good drop kicker but Henderson is so calm and our record when he plays is fantastic. Agree that Hendo appears injury prone which is the main reason he doesn't establish himself as the number at most clubs he go's to.

The chances are Henderson is picking up injuries because he is not used to playing as many games as he has. By next season I suspect he will be fully fit and his body will acclimatise and he will Be ever present.

I did like Ben Hamer, his distribution was phenomenal. That said when he came for crosses I never felt convinced and you could see that in the back four.

He moved on to bigger and better things so he thought but the chances are we'll be playing him again next season.

So how many mistakes has Henderson made this season ?

I can't recall any costly mistakes. (I'm sure someone will correct me, but even so).

Henderson is a far better keeper than Hamer. No offence intended, but have you seen most of Henderson's games ?

Hamer a good Charlton keeper. Henderson a bit better IMO.

I think it would suit him but dont expect him to empty bins at the edge of his area.

No doubt Hamer is a very decent keeper.
Could pull off some outstanding saves - the penalty save against Leeds last season, for example.

But TBH I thought Ben Alnwick was safer and more reliable as our keeper.

Coupled with when a bit p***** off that he is not playing, he looks at his last pay slip.

Really like Hamer but now Henderson is more settled I have much more confidence. As others have said, his claiming is first rate and does the basics better than Hamer.

Also one thing Henderson has which I don't believe Hamer has, is the ability to be a captain.

I preferred Alnwick over Hamer but would have Hendo over both.
  • I think that Hendo has one big advantage over Hamer.

I think is very courageous. I'm not saying that Hamer was cowardly, but Henderson is willing to fly in where the boots/heads are flying to claim the ball.

Which is why he has been given the arm band.

And isn't it nice that he is so proud to wear it?
  • Hamer was great for us. Short memories people have.

Clive Mendonca was better than any striker we've had since 1998, doesn't mean we have to keep comparing them and putting those down that aren't as strong as he was.

  • Ben Hamer - 121 games for us, 40 clean sheets.

    That is a decent stat.

There is an element of a goalkeeper only being as good as the back 4 in front of them.

Hence why Rob Elliot was looked upon unfavourably by some.

That said I'd be happy with any of Henderson, Hamer or Elliot. I also like what I've seen of Pope. Another keeper who tries to dominate his box.

Agreed. Hamer was decent and outstanding with his feet, but I feel Henderson is more solid all round. I agree- I wonder how Neuer would fare behind Francis, Doherty, Llera and Basey

Looks like he's getting his big move to Bristol City.
