Slightly off topic, but Charlton republished Jimmy Seed's autobiography as part of the Seed/Bartram/Firmani box set, without permission from my mum who was the rightsholder at the time as next of kin. (The copyright in a book lies with the author for life, plus 70 years.)
The issue here is that any publisher presented with a new book about Jimmy Seed will look at what is, or has been, published before. Were it just the original publication from 1957 then they would be more likely to feel a new biography is viable.
I'm still working on the new book, but an agent has mentioned he can forsee this issue arising down the line when I'm looking for a publisher.
It may have been done in all innocence. I suspect they thought that because the original publisher were no longer in existence there was no copyright issue.

I think it was Steve Sutherland who organised the re-issues @Airman Brown ? The breach of copyright lies with the club, however. Maybe I should have a chat with KM about it. She's a lawyer after all.
