In 2010-2011 liverpool spent £80.450.000 on players 11-12 they spent£56.400.000.... 12-13 £49.300.000. 13-14 £48.800.000..... That is the best part of £235 million in 4 seasons. Anyone that say's Liverpool aint trying to buy the title are talking out of their backside... They might not have succeeded but they certainly tried. I'm glad it's going to City, I prefer city fans to scousers.
What scousers or City fans? City fans are quality mate, lots of my relations are City fans, they are from up there....... Obviously not the best side of the family but they are ok.
Have no particular love for Liverpool fans nor Scousers in general but when I was fifteen I went to Anfield with two Reds fans whose nan lived in Birkenhead. It was probably the first time I'd gone to a game without an accompanying adult, on the train, having a bit of a boys weekend, even though there was no booze. It was the end of the season and if Liverpool beat Tottenham they'd clinch the title (for younger readers there was a time that actually happened). Anfield was packed and as a naive teen, I was slap bang in the middle of the Kop. And I fecking loved it. Even though I wasn't a fan of either club the atmosphere was like nothing I had ever experienced. This was pre-all seater and the terrace undulated like a living organism. When Peter Beardsley slipped in the winner the Kop erupted and the celebrations began. With this experience it cemented my desire to be a fan, to be part of something like that. So when I could afford to travel independently that's what I did. With Charlton.
I did the same and went to a Liverpool v Everton derby in 1976. Liverpool played Spurs two weeks previous, which a schoolmate attended and was handed vouchers for the derby match. So me and a mate sent off for tickets and got them for the Anfield Road end, which we swopped for Kop tickets outside the ground with two Everton fans who wanted the away end. Standing on the Kop is the best crowd experience I've had before or since. I believe it held 26,500 when full and you were packed tight in a moving mass of people, but felt totally safe. You had to stand with you arms leaning on the person in front, at a 45 degrees angle and just allow yourself to move with the crowd. The crowd would surge when the ball went into the corner and everyone leant forward to see it. A goal was pandemonium and you could finish up 10 yards away from your original position when it all settled down again. The noise was also incredible and you could hear songs starting behind you, echoing around the vast cavernous roof, before all the kopites picked it up and gave it the full monty. The leaders of the Kop would stand on the barriers in the middle and get the songs going, how they stayed up there I've no idea.
Liverpool were three up at half-time, all scored in front of us at the Kop end, Keegan, Toshack & a Neal penalty. Dobson pulled a goal back in the second half for 3-1. 56,000 in the ground, which was full one hour before the kick-off, as the two ends took part in a singing contest. We got in when the gates opened at 1-30pm and stood at the bottom of one of the pylons holding up the roof to the left of the goal. I was amazed everyone got in so early for an all-ticket game. But if you left it late, it was impossible to push your way into a good position and you had to settle for a position around the edges. Marvellous experience.
Agreed City fans are still decent, can have a serious football chat with them and they know in what situation Charlton find themsleves in at the time, they have just won the lottery, good luck to them if it does not do any serious damage to them long term.
Every time i have met a Liverpool fan in the last few years, first question after i say im a Charlton fan is "what league are they in at the moment" and some of those Liverpool fans are in my family. ;-)

Last two Liverpool fans I met recently, whom I told I supported Charlton replied Jackie or Booby? Very droll to which I replied I'm surprised you're not wearing snorkels as you must be disciples of that diving pair of cheats who play up front for you these days.
Please don't label all scousers the same , the blue half are a much more decent bunch. My Liverpool supporting mate (one of my best mates) had no idea we were back in the championship but my mate that's a blue and lives oppsite him has been to a couple of matches a season at the Valley for the last couple of years.
If you kill yourself , it's called suicide . If you kill someone , it's called homicide . If you kill thousands , it's called genocide . If you kill the King , it's called regicide . If you kill your brother , it's called fratricide . And , if you have 2 Premier League teams , and neither have won the League for over 20 years , it's called Merseyside.

Ha ha Booby Charlton.
that fella is a complete tit.
Yep he sure was, the Scouser that is not Bobby :-)
I remember growing up in Erith, and the team who had most supporters was Liverpool. There were two more Charlton fans in our year, and the plastic scouse thing is with me for life. I've no time for any of these glory hunter types, but when Liverpool claim to be different, or even better, complain that the media go on and on about Man Utd, I smile and remember the eighties. Shame the scousers have forgotten!!
Rather them than a team that buy their way to the title a la Chelsea or City. Chelsea are an average sized club at best full of glory hunters who have only ever known bought success. Not earned on the pitch. And as for city, anyone could win the league with that kind of money.
Ruud Gullet spent a fortune at Newcastle and the club were nearly relegated. I realise things are different today and the money much greater but in terms of entertainment, I think Man City have earned their place at the top. Liverpool, too. Chelsea bore me to sleep and Arsenal still lack the main ingredient.

Hopefully, if enough of us say this often enough, the message will sink in?
