    Spiritualized - Royal Albert Hall

Was that the one they recorded as a live album - I was there too - can't remember if we all went together. Spiritualized are headlining the Sled Island Festival in Calgary in a few weeks time - I will be there & then some. Just a shame their set clashes with Earthless...
Yeah, it was the live album. Didn't go with you to this one, but sure we went together when they played Hammersmith a couple of years later.

Literally hundreds of magical rockabilly gigs, but I will pick out Ronnie Dawson's farewell UK appearance at the Rockabilly Rave weekender in 2003 as a representative of all of them. We all knew Ronnie was dying but he put on the performance of a lifetime, cheers and tears at the end... Unforgettable.

Oasis at the Festival do Sudoeste in 2004 - backstage passes, free booze, food and music...

James at The Academy 1998, mate couldn't go, gave us his tickets, a few of our pre-match drinking buddies were going too so we all met up. On a roll as The Addicks steamrollered towards the play-offs, brilliant gig and then a chorus or two of Valley Floyd Road on the train going home with other random Addicks on the train joining in.

The Meteors at The Hope & Anchor, 1980. The start of UK Psychobilly, I let Paul Slattery stand in front of me to take the "Psychobilly Kid" photo for the cover of Sounds.

Fratellis at The 02 Shepherds Bush last November. First proper gig since Oasis in 2004, I have been a fan since they started and thought I had missed my chance when they split without ever playing Portugal. Couldn't believe my luck when they reformed and scheduled a London gig for when we were back for a visit. Nearly two hours of pure joy and brilliant front row circle seats (too old for the mosh pit nowadays...) - a great night!

The Who - 1976, The Valley
The Who - 1974, The Valley
Peter Gabriel - the 'So' tour, Earls Court 1987
U2 - The Joshua Tree tour, NEC 1987
Pink Floyd, Paul McCartney, Elton John, Robert plant and Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Dire Straits, Genesis/Phil Collins, Tears for Fears, Status Quo and...... Cliff Richard. Music therapy festival, Knebworth House, 1990. (not so much for the performances, but what a line up!)

Near misses: David Bowie at Milton Keynes on the Let's dance tour, Genesis at the Marquee club on a festival warm up gig. All the bands that used to play at the White Swan in Greenwich in the early 80's

    Todd Rundgren 2004, Festival Hall
    Todd Rundgren 2011 Jazz Cafe
    Sun Ra 1990-ish Ronnie Scott's
Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros 2001-ish, Brixton Academy
The Who (with Joe Strummer as support) 2001-ish, Docklands Arena

And the ones that got away: I decided against going to see Jeff Buckley because 'Why would I want to see Tim Buckley's son?' And I decided against going to see Strummer's firemen's benefit gig (his last but one show, and the one where Mick Jones jumped on stage with him) because it was raining.

(off the top of me head in no order)

Weller, Newcastle City Hall 1994. Great songs, no filler, incendary performance with imo his best band line-up.

    The Who, Wembley Arena 2013.
Doves, Glastonbury 2003 or 2004 (headlining 'other' stage Sunday night)

I didn't see Led Zep at Earls court on the physical grafitti tour. double booked with something I couldn't get out of.
I also had a choice between Dire Straits at Lewisham Odeon and The Police at hammersmith palais. Chose Dire Straits, big mistake. Poor gig and I never got to see the Police after this opportunity slipped by.

Metallica - Bradford St Georges Hall '86
Living Colour - Leeds Uni '91
The Ataris - Leeds Cockpit '01
    Midtown - Leeds Cockpit '05

Possibly bump Midtown for Dan Reed Network at the Marquee in '88. Or Coheed and Cambria, Leeds Cockpit, 05. Maybe even Toots and the Maytals in Leeds. Or possibly..........................

Agree about U2 at Twickenham, they were terrible. Just went through the motions and completely outplayed by Athlete.
