So if bob is announced today, and katrien says we hope to have all transfer activity done by the end of june. Does it give bob one whole month to get in pretty much a new squad.
A quick look at the updated squad list will tell you bob is going to have a pretty busy month getting in a lot of players (champ standard ones) or roland and his scouts have done the work for the gaffer.
cheer up vff - and read what was written and have a laugh about it
Who the feck are you to tell me to cheer up ? Its all right for you, you don't live in SE London and don't fecking support Charlton. All who you feckers who liked byls comment who the feck are you ? I'll take the lot of you.
Please keep posting VFF, you're morphing into a cross between Victor Meldrew and Danny Dyer.

In truth in SE London you have to draw the line on occassion on whats acceptable.
It is a good idea for a sign in name. Danny Meldrew, Victor Dyer, or DMVD. There is a good one in there somewhere.

I will guarantee what will happen.
One day out of the blue in the next couple of months, we will just simply announce something like 9 signings / loans from overseas.
I suspect it has already been determined who is going to be coming here in most insatances.

To be fair Kate did say hope, I think she was naive to give a time frame, but then so was Murray when he said once that we would sign a player every week for the next six weeks and we did not sign another for six weeks.
From what i understood the manager is not responsible for recruiting p-layers, but not having him maybe the bottle neck for players signing / joining ie they want to know who they are playing for before they sign, so deals may already be lined up and just waiting for the manager to be announced and met. .... Having said that I'm not sure I believe it :-0

I'm deeply sceptical about this. Bob Peeters is only 40 years old, and has no experience of managing a team in England. Chris Powell is 45, and Riga is twelve years older, though his wig might deceive you.
A man from a minor Belgian team pitches up and instantly has authority over Johnnie Jackson, our captain, who is a mere seven years younger. Good managers have implicit authority over their players: by age, intelligence and experience.
This is another one of Duchatelet's experiments: throw in a rookie and see what happens, with The Valley as some sort of proving ground.
He is a decent young manager, People in Belgium rate him. The kinda set up we have, Fan base, Stadium size. Its his chance to prove what he can do, I'm quite excited about the new prospect and will back the manager. My friend thinks this will be a long term deal as well, Not a 3 month then out the door,
The problem with all this (as I've posted before) is that when it was rumoured that Karel Fraeye was being lined up to take over after Riga, our previous 'well informed' Belgium visitor Bertje led us to believe that Karel Fraeye was one the most promising young coaches in Belgium and that it was quite a coup for Duchatelet to have secured his services. He told us :
"I'm following Karel Fraeyes career and he's a talented, typical head coach. I've never seen a more talented young coach in our area.....
You know: Some Belgian first and second class teams were saying: why does a talented coach as Fraeye chooses for Duchatelet and Charlton if he has opportunities in the Belgian first division"
But when our latest Belgium ‘expert’ byl was asked for his opinion on Fraeye he said:
“i can't comment on him. Eendracht Zele is an amatuer team in belgium who play in a regional division. It's another regio than the one i am in, I live close to Antwerp. I only learned to know Karel Fraeye when Riga took him as an assitant to Charlton, never heard from him before”…...

Think that's valid. The difference of course is that Peeters has done work at the Highest Belgian level which leaves a footprint that can be critically scrutinised. Fraeye didn't have that.

And if you do 'scrutinise' it (again as posted before) this is what you get:
Name in home country: Robert Peeters Date of birth: Jan 10, 1974 Place of birth: Lier
Of course bare stats tell you nothing about the (lack of) 'quality' of players he may have been coaching etc - but I think we should consider then and they're not impressive......?
Come on Yann, Riga had some experience, even though most of us hadn't heard of him, but Peeters is very inexperienced and hasn't set the world alight has he in his short career. I welcome him and wish him the best, I really do, but anyone being positive about this move is doing so in hope only.
Quick question , is it the same posters moaning about Peeters as the ones that we're moaning about Riga ???
As you've posted so quickly after my 2 posts above - is 'moaning' the same as not simply taking at face value what we're told about possible Belgium imports......?
Quick question , is it the same posters moaning about Peeters as the ones that we're moaning about Riga ???
I think it's more a case of people being sick to the back teeth of the continuous and unnecessary turmoil at our club. We need stability and certainty. Charlton is no longer a place for hero's like Yann, CP or Riga. Peeters may be great, but so what? it won't stop our Roly booting him out the moment he starts to get too popular. I was right behind Riga from day one, but I can't endorse this move because there was simply no need for it.
Quick question , is it the same posters moaning about Peeters as the ones that we're moaning about Riga ???
No
33% moaned about BP and JR
10% moaned about BP, JR and CP
27% moaned about just JR
3% moaned about BP but no one else.
16% moaned about CP and no one else
110% moaned about Yann897 always looking for someone to moan about
Oh the irony coming from All people ! It was a question that's all don't know why people have to get up tight about it, I just thought people may have learned not to judge a manager until we see what happens .

I'm trying not to post too much but you've asked me a question , it isn't just Belgium imports praising him , it's the several Belgium journos who have said how highly they rate him and surly there's more of a story there if they say he's shit . I'm giving the fella a chance same as what a gave Powell ( with no managerial experience ) and the same I gave Riga who had been out of work for couple of years ( managing ).

IT.WAS.A.JOKE. Lighten up
Very funny seems to be quite a few jokes at my expense .
To be fair to Yann897, it may have been a joke but the poor blokes been getting it from every angle, so no wonder he's on the defensive.
Although in this case, like most posters, I disagree with him and am finding it hard to find positives in this decision. Doesn't mean I won't back him 100% come the first day of the season.

I'm not overly positive mate I'm just gonna give the bloke a chance see what players we bring in, how he gets on in pre season and who knows , it's a massive gamble that could go either way.

Just let it go over your head pal. Sometimes people like a wind-up, myself included, so as long as you don't take it personal or its doesn't get too personal, then just laugh it off.
I agree with what you are saying, and its seems like we have the same outlook on the situation, but its a Charlton forum and its a place where people can go to express their emotions with other Charlton fans.
Sometimes it goes over the top, and its negative as well as positive. I find Micks obsession with our belgian posters and Viewfinders view on the academy really strange, but you just gotta let people get on with it.

So I think we're entitled to be a tad skeptical about the glowing reports from Belgium sources of our apparent new ‘Head Coach’….
