  • Not entirely related to last nights game but highlighted by the balance of the side we put out.

Not a season goes by when we don't desperately miss Tom Maynard in all formats. We still don't have that destructive middle order player who can adapt to every situation and all conditions. The lad really was class and is exactly what we need coming in at 4 to back up the likes of Roy/Finch/Jacks. The unbelievable talent the lad had, I have no doubt that he would have been in and around that England squad that won the world cup. #TLM55
That's clutching at straws a bit, Canters.

We've missed Ollie Pope this year from what I've seen and don't forget Jason Roy, who, at this rate, might not touch a ball in a brown cap this season.

Obviously we are missing Roy at the top of the order and Popes improvisation as a finisher.

My point is we have never really replaced Maynard. We have not found a real powerful middle order player in any format. Wel still have tht gap 7 years on.
We ( KCCC) have never really replaced Colin Cowdrey !
Not that many 25 stone batsman about tbh
My dear old Dad used to say he fielded in the slips with a pork pie in his pocket.
Colin Milburn made Colin Cowdrey look like a sprinter!
  • Off to Surrey v Middlesex this evening, should be a scorcher. Might need. Drink or two to hydrate me... Looking forward to seeing AB. Anyone else going?

Can't mate. Spending the day with my family today/this evening as won't see them on my birthday (Friday).

Plus going to be an expensive one at Lord's tomorrow.

Fingers crossed AB puts on a show.

  • I am at the Oval tonight and Lords Thursday, looking forward to both.

  • Would think, what with AB, and Surrey's lack of white-ball players, that Middx would be favourites.

Nothing like getting your excuses in early, Pres.

  • This is rather fun!
  • Moan about Stevens being too old:

    Batty 2-0-35-0
  • Good fun. Mate came just to see AB. 3 off 6 balls, then lbw Tahir  :D:D

And he hit it. Credit to him that he didn't do a "Jason Roy" though.
  • This Scott character has the gormless look and style of the identikit allrounder type that's so fashionable nowadays. Bet he bowls lively 83mph fast-mediums as well

He even hits maximums without looking at the ball. Difficult to set fields to his mishits.
  • Oh my word Tom Curran what was that???
  • Being able to hit Dernbach around isn't exactly a special ability. Counties are sinking resources into the George Scotts of the world because their athleticism hides their lack of particular talent. Malan however, has proper talent
  • The Surrey fielding at times has been abismal

I imagine Tahir enjoyed getting his former captain out!

Really? Fair play. Another mate had a close up on tv shovelling food into his face. The art of cricket this aint

  • Giving gubbins big love. Only because he's called gubbins. He's loving it
  • But what's happening on the pitch, lads ? :-)
