What a bunch of sad little men. If they want to fight and 'get their fix' why don't they go to a boxing or MMA club and at least learn how to fight and fight with people who know how to? Ah yes, that would be too tough for them.
It's not comparable is it. Having experienced both to varying degrees, they aren't similar.
Correct, one is sometime against a fellow thug or an unlucky passerby.... The other is against someone who could break you face with a punch
Think there is more potential for serious harm at football than boxing. Although there is no hiding place with boxing.
Football hooliganism is like a drug to some people. It's not just the fighting (which rarely happens in this day and age) but everything that goes with it.
Considering you risk literally ruining your life in many ways these days and a lot of very well educated people are involved, I don't think it's as simple as 'thugs fighting' and comparable to boxing, which is a controlled sport.
That said a lot of absolute numpties do get involved and I would guess it's these people who feature on these programmes, which I have not watched as could imagine it would be cringe worthy.

...by definition EVERYONE who chooses to deliberately get involved is a numpty. There are no grey areas for me. If your idea of a fun day out is a fight with opposing fans or the Old Bill with a football match thrown in you are a proper, weapons grade plum. No matter how many excuses are dreamt up trying to justify it.
BA cant see anyone "justifying " it. Its a crime which gets people sent to prison so how and why would anyone "justify" it---explain it on the other hand yes---many very very educated people have but havnt. Some sort of addiction re adrenaline ? maybe but im not sure any addiction is explainable to people that arnt addicted.
not sure why people would go on TV and make emselves look complete c--ts but its good enough for the House of Commons !

As for Marriner, those apprentices probably thought "who the f*** is this prick".
