They should just rip the pitch up, put a ton of sand down & play. Worked for Chelsea.
  • Bigger changes than the pitch may be afoot.

SISU said to be looking at selling CCFC, and Simon Jordan is expressing interest

  • Coventry City will return to the Coventry Building Society Arena next week after the pitch was deemed safe.

Independent sport turf experts, appointed by the English Football League, have determined the surface is now playable after remedial work.

The Sky Blues will host their first home match of the season against Preston on Wednesday, 31 August.

  • A brilliant win for Coventry over Blackburn tonight, considering that they weren't even sure the game would go ahead a couple of days ago, with the ground owners under threat of going into administration.

I was up in the midlands earlier this week & the local news did a piece on this…

When they showed the Coventry fans protesting, there was a guy holding up a banner saying “Save our club. No more Charlton away!”

…either in reference to the joint protest years ago or the fact that we now represent L1 (where no-one wants to be!)
  • Also a reference to our years away from the Valley, and the period Coventry were exiled as well?
  • Seems to be the usual strong rumours of Mike Ashley. This seems his more likely destination, a division above us and can likely pick up ground and club for not a lot.

The rumours I've seen have been linking him with the stadium but not Coventry or Wasps themselves.
  • The operating companies that run the Coventry Building Society Arena have applied to enter administration.

Arena Coventry Ltd (ACL), Arena Coventry (2006) Ltd and IEC Experience Ltd expect administration orders to be made "in the forthcoming weeks".

BBC CWR reports that former Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley is the preferred bidder to buy the stadium.

the two companies quoted are tied up with WASPS RUFC, which may or may not have ceased to exist .. If Ashley buys the stadium and Coventry City can still play there, then that is surely a very good outcome

  • Former Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley has taken over the operating companies which run the Coventry Building Society Arena.

Ashley's Frasers Group had been named as the preferred bidder after making a £17m bid for the three businesses, who have been placed into administration.

Coventry City agreed a deal on Wednesday to sell an 85% stake in the club to businessman Doug King.

A court ruled his £25m offer to own the stadium had come too late.

Coventry City have been issued with an eviction notice by the new owners of the Coventry Building Society Arena.
Former Newcastle owner Mike Ashley's Frasers Group took over the stadium last month after buying its three former operating companies.
They say the Championship club has no continuing right to use the ground.
Club officials were informed on Friday they must return keys and access cards and an FA Youth Cup game on Saturday was switched to Leamington.

And there are people who want Ashley as our new owner !!!!!
He’s going to buy us and move us to his newly acquired stadium
  • Mike Ashley is a truly vile individual. He just gets a buzz out of behaving like a c***.
  • I can only imagine he'll be using the stadium as leverage to jump the queue and buy the club. Having the stadium with no team(s) to play there just doesn't make sense.

Coventry City have been given a suspended points deduction after three Championship games had to be postponed because of the state of their pitch.

The five-point penalty will be implemented if there is a further breach in 2022-23 or next season.

Hopefully it's a "has to be given out but we hope it never will be activated" type of punishment, as the condition of the pitch had very little to do with the club.
  • Coventry City have agreed a new rental deal to carry on playing at the CBS Arena for the next five years.

hope they got a very good rental rate, there's  no-one left to use the place now that Wasps are no more

  • Obviously not a great situation for Coventry to not own their ground BUT their position in the Championship playoffs suggests that not owning the ground isn't necessarily a handicap for on field success

    Money is though.

Man City don't own theirs either...
  • They've sold out for this weekend. 30k

Like our top flight seasons at Selhurst

Which should be obvious to anyone without an alternative agenda.

Coventry are playing in Coventry. They just don't own the ground.
