In Patrick Kielty's league as an unfunny comedian.

Patrick Kielty is a better goalkeeper (played in soccer aid) than he is comidian.

Yohann Thuram is a better comidian than he is goalkeeper.

have to agree with comment re: Patrick kielty.....totally un-funny? howard is ok. not the best. find his show is a bit of a rip off of Harry Hill's TV Burp.

More upsetting is the fact that Kielty is with Cat Deeley. This upsets me greatly because she is an absolute weapon

What is a weapon in this context?
  • Was hoping this was going to be an RIP thread.

I know you have said this as a joke(or I hope you have)
but that's a bit close to the line for a public forum IMO
You'd think a comedian could take a joke, right?

I'd check out "thefappening" photos then mate, your opinion might change.
  • Have been saying this for YEARS. How he got his own show is completely beyond me.
  • I used to cringe every time he spoke on Mock the Week.

because over 5 million people per week tune in to watch him and he is far more talented than Eastenders omnibus and reviews are good.

“Howard is energetic, uncynical and, most importantly, very funny.”
    David Chater, The Times [Playlist]

“We’re loving cheeky Russell’s series which, as well as giving his take on the big stories, also uncovers some of the more bizarre headlines of the week. Funny stuff."
    The Mirror [We Love Telly]

“Expect razor-sharp observations from one of the rising stars on the comedy circuit.”
    Joe Clay, The Times [T2]

“Howard is more than comfortable working solo, driving the show forward by sheer force of his energy, charm and enthusiasm.”
    Harry Venning, the Stage

"Russell Howard, as funny as cancer. Couldn't make himself laugh even after finding out he was stealing a living as a Comedian."
    Soapy_Jones, Charlton Life
  • Brilliant - you should be on BBC3

Riiight but millions of people also watch Towie, X Factor and Skating on Ice. Our moronic public will watch anything. What I asked was how he got his own show in the first place. Supposedly a panel of 'experts' agreed that he should have his own programme, which to me is baffling.

Because 5 million watch him, which more than adequately drags in enough market share for what is basically a cheapo show with one bloke, a couple of guests a couple of quick sketches and an up and coming wannabe who will work for peanuts.
It isn't rocket science, but it is cheap television (much, much cheaper than TOWIE and the others you list) and 5 million plus enjoy it.

It's not exactly a shock that some people like a comedian and some don't, is it?
    Like art it is subjective.

It seems to me that a lot of the negative posters on here have lost their remote controls and use of their legs or arms. Dont like someone trying to make the world a better place? Turn over. RH isn't exactly forcing himself into your living room is he?
Just a really nice guy trying to raise a few laughs.

Go and be baffled by something more complex.

Oh. Sorry for thinking he's shit. Who am I to question Britain's barometer for humour -The Mirror...
  • No, it is me who should be sorry for understanding that different people find different things funny and for trying to explain that this is the concept behind the reason RH was given a series.
Which was the question I was answering.

Absolutely. It'd be boring if we all enjoyed the same comedians, and there's loads I don't find funny but I do feel quite strongly that RH is stealing a living because he's not funny.

How can I help what I'm baffled by?
