A lot of these players think they can still a job at Championship level and believe that clubs will just come in from them at the same wages they were on before.
Lee Cook thought after playing in Greece last season that he would be playing Championship football again and then quickly realised that was not going to happen and is now playing conference football with Barnet. At 32 years of age maybe you cannot be too picky
Darren Ambrose now aged 30 cannot get in anywhere, and it appears a lot of clubs in League one and two are doing things on the cheap and being prudent with funds.
A lot of these players out of contract need to reduce their wage demands or swallow their pride and play at Non League level if they are that desperate to have a wage coming in every month
Oh you mean like our star centre back Andre Bikey?
Bikey has got a club us
He was a free agent when we signed him.
So were most of our signings in 2011. That didn't work out too badly.
That's my point! Grrr Dallas said all the players on that list haven't got clubs because they're rubbish. That's clearly not true, as proved by Andre Bikey.

We were in League 1 then looking for promotion and the basis for a championship squad which would need strengthening...and that was June/July. Today we are in sixth place in the Championship and hopefully looking to build for the play-offs next May or the year after given we have the youngest squad in the league. I would suggest that loans from the Premier league are more likely to strengthen our squad at this time as the free agents will have already signed if they were top six calibre. Put another way, we have enough to get by if mid-table is the objective and that will mean academy players get more exposure rather than someone off the street.
It is according to the 656 championship players recorded on transfermarkt. CAFC average 24... Championship average 25, 3 months... Millwall 28. It's the basis of M.Duchatelet's strategy.

Surely what he means is that the decent ones will have picked up by now though, like Bikey was.
I honestly think we'd be better off with loans if we need anyone (and I agree the squad looks a centre mid and a striker light, as impressed as I've been with those we bought in) - they'll have a pre-season and regular training behind them so would be in a better place to hit the ground running.
Bikey, Moussa, Gudmundsson, Ben Haim were all free agents but that was a few months ago. I expect CAFC representatives were talking to their agents a while back. Is it the agent who is then failing if a decent player doesn't have a club at this point. Players, clubs and agents operate in a mature market meaning mistakes happen but are rare. There are more players out there because FFP is restricting losses so agents cannot create auctions forcing clubs to outbid one another. The Del**t saga is the exception not the rule these days.

My point is, it's brainless to simply say 'they is all rubbish, innit'

Hall is now 33 years old and has had injuries over the last 3 years that has restricted him to 25 games. If the fella is fit then get him in on trial and see if he shapes up.
Or is this case of going through a free agents list, reading that Morrison could be given a free transfer according to the SLP and picking a centre half from that list.
Pointless bringing these type of players in unless they are better than what you already have.
I honestly think Dany N'Guessan would be worth a 6 month deal to get us to transfer window. Would be cheap and we don't have a player to rough up a few defenders.
Ooh yes please. As long as we can bring back Doherty, Racon, Crainie, Moody & McCormack as well.

So much greedy dross on these free transfer lists. Alot of these players are probably being stubborn with wage demands and just waiting for clubs to be so desperate they couldn't turn them down.
Hungry looking to impress loans or nothing in my opinion.

Love to know the story behind Chris Eagles. Turned us down on loan last summer, clearly had a fall out at Bolton as was released at the end of the season and yet at the same time received a doctor of science from the University of Bolton for his services to sport!
Season before last he was not only Bolton's top scorer but also had the most assists. Still only 28, would offer cover on both flanks and potentially a sub that can make something happen.
