Love to know the story behind Chris Eagles. Turned us down on loan last summer, clearly had a fall out at Bolton as was released at the end of the season and yet at the same time received a doctor of science from the University of Bolton for his services to sport!
Season before last he was not only Bolton's top scorer but also had the most assists. Still only 28, would offer cover on both flanks and potentially a sub that can make something happen.
The key things are 1) He turned us down last year. How well do you think that will sit with RD? 2) Big Bob seems to be trying to get in a young, hungry team, of players who will sweat blood for the shirt. What do you think Big Bob will think of a player who would rather get splinters up his a*re than play football?

I can't argue with any of that save the fact that, in this instance, I don't actually think it's that simple. Whatever the merits of his doctorate, from what I can see the lad does a lot of work for charity and there could well be other reasons for him not moving last year e.g. personal ones.
As with all such loans there is no guarantee that he would have even started for us last season any more than he would now. It would be up to our Manager to speak to him and see quite how hungry he is to play.

It is a strange one. He was excellent for Burnely in the season they first went up.
Very strange with Eagles, he was on 30k per week at Bolton, nobody in the Championship will offer him half of that, so like O'Hara he will be taking a massive pay cut. Poor lamb.
As has been said on other threads many clubs now just can't or won't pay silly money so there is a bit of a stand off taking place.
I am surprised at the number of young guys on the list, there must be some potential in all these 19-21 year old players coming from EPL acadamies. It's very odd that they can get through the ranks up untill the reserves and cant find a League club. Its the young guys i feel sorry for (without knowing their situation) , they have probably sacrificed a lot with a view on becoming a pro player and at the end of their development for whatever reason they come up short. Players like N'gog wont really have to live in poverty because they are out of a job but these young'uns will probably have to restart their professional careers in another way
Lots of these names do sound familiar for the fellow FM addicts that start in the non league or league two level.
