It's obvious I know but the team this year is much better than last years team. How many players from last year would get in this years team. Piggot and Pritchard ?

We're a much better team than last year too though. Although agree, best chance you'll have of beating us in years.
  • And WHEN we beat them, most Millwall fans will (genuinely) not mind that much about it, and be slightly amused by the extent of our joy.... let's face the facts.

Only scenarios that might get them agitated: a really big win, we relegate them, or win 10 in a row. Don't hold yer breath

This. Was bemused watching your fans celebrate a nil nil draw last season as if you'd just won, and won big.
  • I think millwall have a better team than their position suggests , thankfully they have a manager who I don't believe is maximising them
Will be a tight game and there's no way we can be as pathetic as we were last season at The Valley (please no)

Yes, people on here talking about us being in a relegation battle after ten games we're being very premature I think. Talk of promotion too, miles too early.
  • You'll deffo not go down and I expect us to be within a few points of each other at the end of the season , not sure who'll come out on top
Saying that the whole league ,Blackpool apart , will be within a few points of each other!

Yeah agree. It's impossible to call this league, anyone can beat anyone.
  • Our record against them is simply embrassing. Only seen us beat them live 3 times in 30 years. Saying that tho 9 times out of 10 we finish above them. As much as I would laugh if they went down I don't see it happening. They look a better side than last year but agree Holloway is a limited manager. Jackett did a great job but the idiots off the pitch (Wigan@Wembley) was the final straw for him.

Jackett was limited too. He'll always get a team out of the third tier but he'll struggle in the championship. Wolves have done exactly the same as we did when he first brought us up. Started the first couple of months well, carrying on the momentum of promotion, but falling away after that. We struggled for the last few years with Jackett. His tactics are too one dimensional for thiS league. And god it was dull under him. Say what you like about Holloway but dull is something it will never be.
I'll always be grateful to Jackett, he was the perfect manager for us when he first came to us, and he sorted us right out. Plus he gave me some of my best days out as a Millwall supporter. But when he decided to go I was more than happy with his decision. It had run his course.

What annoys me about this fixture is how many Charlton fans go on about how we have to beat them, how much we hate them etc. then end up with a measly attendance which we would get playing the likes of Wigan on a Tuesday night.

Although true there is an element that when the players turn up to this fixture then the fans will. We had a pretty good turnout when they rolled us 4-0 and kept us in for an hour and I vowed I'd never go again. I did however and witnessed the dullest 0-0 in football history. They are just the away games, our home performances against them are even worse.

  • I fancy us to boss this one....and still lose.
  • Millwall are actually appealing Wilkinsons red card, which I cant believe

cant find any video for it but I think this picture is a clear indication that his studs were showing and deserved a straight red

That image says it was, and what was the fight about afterwards then between to 2 managers, if the FA overturn that red card they are bigger idiots than I Thought, studs showing and never got the ball

I saw it on Sky Sports News and thought it was worth no more than a yellow.

Really that's where I saw it and it was one of those challenges where you have a big intake of breath when you see it IMO

That's why there's no consistency with refs. Even us fans have different views. I suppose that what makes football great.

Only saw it on a grainy clip so hard to tell. From what I've been told it looked a lot worse than it was and both players went in hard 50/50, and the studs came up after the tackle, but again that's only someone's opinion.
Don't know what caused the trouble but their manager has since stated he thought it was a soft red.

I'm sure Charlton players have fouled players in the past, badly too, but when we do it the player is playing up to our image? Daft quote.
  • I am bringing my Girlfriend to her first ever live match, she is dead up for it. Even after I told her about the 11 in 65......the 4-0 in 09/10 and the general rubbishness of our last few performances.

    God help me!

The difference is you favour the crude challenge over a piece of skill.
The exponents of this art are your club's heroes.
  • Don't worry everyone, first time I will have missed the game at the valley since I can remember, so guarenteed to win.

    You're welcome.
  • Message for millwall fan.
Millwall wannabe hatchet men that u can think of. In my lifetime.
Kitchener cripps hurlock Stevens dunne Craig. Shit players that could kick players. How many Charlton players can you think off the top of your head fall into that remit.
