I've heard that traditionally in America it was called Black Friday because loads of people didn't come into work the day after thanksgiving and retailers just carried the name over.

Peacocks (and sheep) at Tong Farm, Botany Bay Lane, near Chislehurst. Peacocks 'wild' in the sense that they can leave if they so choose, but they seem happy and stay put. Beautiful sunset this evening - the afterglow on the horizon, viewed across the fields, was spectacular.
