  • Just seen this thread ;-(

    Well done PM again.

Independently and without cheating, like MLC, I did Mendip too. Oh for that extra hundred yards.............
  • Cheers AA, nice one. No Burton Port this time?
  • Peanuts, just had a car repair bill of £300, and was having to use the Xmas money to pay for it, but you saved the day. Get in and Merry Xmas to you mate!

Merry Xmas to you too Morts. Delighted the old boy did the biz for you. He ran a blinder.

No - I can't have Jonjo at the moment (or any other time in most circumstances) and I rather suspect that the horse might be aimed for a bigger race some time next year ;-)
  • Unfortunate and very sad news about Balbriggan.
  • Easy to say now, but he was never that price with the experience
  • Aaaarrgghh, why did I not read this thread yesterday :-(

    Well done PM
  • Lol. Cheers AFKA.
  • Saw my nephew this morning - he got a "no seat belt" ticket while delivering in his van this week and was a bit down about the unfairness of it.

I tipped him a big price winner, and he is back buzzing again !

Well done again PM for spreading the happiness.

  • Peanuts you beauty!!!
  • Too kind Gary. Hopefully more to celebrate in 45 minutes.
  • Was 45/1 on Betfair
  • I was definitely the only one in Coral Canterbury on I know that much. Let out a c word when I thought he was guna get caught after the elbow. Great ride. Great tip.
  • Gonna have some of this.

    What time is the race....
  • Thanks Peanuts!

Saw this tip late Friday night and quickly decided to do £2.50 each way with the last of Len's Little Girl's Bet 365 account.

What a pleasant surprise to receive a text from a delighted 'little girl' advising me she had £84 in the account!

Cheers Len and a merry Xmas to you and Little Girl.

Good to see that there was only 1 faller among the 41 runners in the Becher and Grand Sefton Chases over the GN fences and only 3 unseated. 27 completed. Very sadly Balbriggan suffered a fatal fracture but this happened on the flat, in between fences.
Evidence, again, of the success of the alterations made particularly since 2012. Arguably, changing the composition of the core of the fences has been especially effective.
It may have knackered my 2014 GN model but a shiny, brand new model will be rolled out in 2015 ;o)

    Well done PM

Same Dan, I see the Thread but didn't realise it was Peanuts and didn't open it.

Is there a way the website could show who started the thread rather than last comment by??

Would save me opening a lot of threads if I knew who started them :)

    Was 45/1 on Betfair

Hope you availed yourself of it Chief.
I'm a dyed-in-the-wool each way punter looking for value (that's the way I try to play the percentages but there's more than one way to skin the proverbial) and, have to confess, I didn't even check the exchange. Though you'd expect the win price to be better than the bookies for an outsider, even if the Betfair Place market was paying out on the first 5 (don't know if it was or not), I'm sure it wouldn't have been 1/4 the win price. Punters backing credible outsiders on the exchange seem often to push the Place market price below 1/4 the bookies best e/w. I'd imagine that was the case with Oscar but stand to be corrected.
Nonetheless, amazingly yet again, taking the extra e/w place paid off. Roy did it with his 5th yesterday and also with his 6th in the last GN; following Swing Bill's 6th in the 2013 GN and 5th in the 2013 Becher. Love those percentages!

Cheers Fanny. Your comments on these races are always welcome. Merry Xmas.
  • All of PM's threads should be sticky's. Missed this too! Well done Peanuts.
  • Cheers Chicago. Much appreciated but better not............I am a Cardinals' fan ;o)
  • Hi Peanuts
The place on Betfair was 8.4 just under 7 and a half to one first four

Decent odds indeed. Cheers for the info Chief.
I should certainly have looked at the exchange though, personally, I'd still have done 33s with the 5-place bookies....but that's just me. Missed out on too many tasty GN 5ths over the years.
  • Aagh, just read this thread, 2 days too late :-( Well done Peanuts :-)
  • Peanuts strikes again !! .. terrific research .. Sam Whaley-Cohen must be one of the most successful jockeys ever going round the national fences

The BF Place SP (1st 4) returned 8.4 so, after commission, that would equate to 7/1 which, given you can back place only on BF and don't have to have a win bet (or vary your stake to have more on the place), is fair enough.

For the big races BF do offer markets with other place terms and would probably have put one up for the first five home but, the trade off is, of course, that the prices available won't be as favourable as the standard place market.
