Just what you need to get you in the Christmas spirit6

It's Friday I'm in love.4
-
Saw them a few years ago at wembley ...great in parts but their gigs are so long, you also get a lot of average stuff.
Would still recommend seeing them.2 -
I saw them about 25 years ago, but missed most of it, after having a few too many Stella's. I vaguely remember lying in the corridor outside.1
-
Saw them at the Marquee with Joy Division1979 and managed too see all of it, it was pretty empty :-)0
-
I saw them at Glastonbury in 91 and at the Crystal p*****e bowl a couple of years after. Very good live band.0
-
A friend went last night and just sent me the setlist.
Forty songs and four encores. Certainly get your money worth with The Cure.0 -
My eldest son was there last night. Not heard from him yet but, as soon as I do (will be before Christmas - hopefully) I will report back!0
-
Sorry am off to see the Hobbit at the IMAX0

I was there last night and it was bloody excellent... As a long time fan it was perfect - 40 odd songs, many for the first time in a long time...wish I had tkts for tonight and tomorrow too, as am pretty certain they're going to focus on a different 'classic' album each evening (last night was The Top - bit poppy for me...was hoping for Pornography).. Flew all the way to Texas to see them last year and will go wherever it takes to see them next year too.... Enjoy.0

Yeah, last night was The Top as you say, tonight is The Head on the Door and tomorrow will be Kiss me, Kiss me, Kiss me.Charlton Charlie said:I was there last night and it was bloody excellent... Great night. Up there with the some of the best & I've been to hundreds of gigs.
They came on at 20.10 & finished at 23.20. An unbelievable 3hrs 10 mins.
They played all their best tracks & loads loads more.
The sound/acoustics were bang on the money.
Robert Smith as great as ever & his voice was the same as all those years ago.
As is often said, legend is bandied around all too often, but for me personally, Smith reached legendary status last night.
Brilliant night & Hammersmith Apollo was a great venue. I haven't been there for donkey's years & it reminded me very much of Brixton.

Has anyone listened to their new record?
It's pretty good, highly evocative. No bangers, yet it'll keep you coming back.
According to Robert Smith there will be a second record next year.0 -
It’s an excellent album1

I share the same birthday as Robert Smith although he’s 3 years older.
Weird as I’m such a fan.1 -

According to Robert Smith there will be a second record next year.I absolutely love it from start to finish as a body of work. No real stand outs or singles in my opinion just great music. Love it2 -
Interestingly, I was watching Robert Smith’s recent interview talking about the album, and other things, and he was asked if he still followed QPR. His response matches my own feelings about football these days which may well be shared by fans of a similar age (I’m 59 and Smith is 65):
“I fell out of love with football about 10 years ago. Each season becomes more and more predictable and more tedious. I don’t support anyone else I just don’t really bother with football any more. I met Stan Bowles - I went out for a curry with him which was the highlight of my life because he was my idol when I was a kid. I fell in love with football when it was a completely different thing. Going to football matches in the 70s was a bit of a rite of passage. It was a different experience then. And the footballers themselves were funnier. They were in the pub before the game. It was a different world. It’s just very corporate. It’s about hair and tattoos. It’s about selling stuff. About branding, sponsorship and betting. It doesn’t move me like it used to.”
