I think they are going up against West Ham, Everton and Leicester for the third relegation place. And those three have a little bit more about them. I really do think this is the year!!
And Wolves.
I don't think Wolves will be anywhere near the bottom 3 in May. They had a terrible start but that was mainly because of their run of fixtures. Now they're playing the 'lesser' sides they're getting results and their next 6 games are all against bottom half teams as well.
I think they might struggle to keep hold of Cunha next season, that guy is too good for Wolves.
This. They’re definitely in a false position and are a good team to back at the moment because of it. I got 9/2 on them to beat Fulham at the weekend
Cunha, if he stays fit, will keep Wolves up easily.
Palace desperately miss Eze, as him and Olise provided their cutting edge last season. But you look at their squad and think they ought to be better than the 3 promoted sides, and Everton.
Everton have had by far the easiest run of anyone in the league since the start and still look useless. Their next six games are Utd, Wolves, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and City so by the new year they might be looking very precarious
Whilst 8 points is poor for Palace after 12 games and for once they haven't beaten the easy teams, which seems to have been their forte in previous seasons; they have got 6 of their points from beating Spurs and drawing with Chelsea, Villa and ManUtd.
That says to me that they have the players to survive and likely comfortably.
They do seem to rely on a small number of stand out players though (Eze, Wharton) so if injuries remain unkind to them they will be in trouble.
If they did go down then the £20M they got for Anderson would seem a very poor deal.
They'll deffo have their worst Prem finish in this recent spell , this is their 12th season on the spin in the Prem and they've only finished between 10th and 15th in the previous 11
Obviously hugely relieved that they got knocked out. I always feel my stress levels increasing when them or the other scum get anywhere near a cup final.
Can't disagree with anything he says though (and fair play to him for acknowledging that 1861 is nonsense). It's quite depressing though - even if we somehow get rescued from our current pitiful level, the best we can ever hope for is joining the other 10 cannon fodder sides for a few years in the Prem where we achieve nothing of significance. Football is quite ruined.
He is right though. Apart from 6 clubs very few will witness a major trophy win in their life time.
Ive been out with friends tonight and apart from the top 6 supporting brigade, there were Charlton supporters, a Sheffield Wednesday fan and a Wimbledon fan. only one has seen his team win a major trophy and he was 10 at the time, none are very likely to in out life span.
However, my grandads both saw Charlton win the cup. How many Millwall or palace grandads can say that?
I agree that it's not good for football that the Big 5 (I don't include Spurs in this conversation) hog all the silverware, especially when when EFL Cup wins mean so little to them or their fans.
Indeed winning in the smaller European competitions is possibly an easier route for other teams to win a trophy.

Probably still better than being cannon fodder in League One though right?
Also depends of what you consider a trophy worthy of celebrating, if you draw the line at the prem title, the FA cup and nothing else, then yes as Charlton fans we will likely never see our team win those. On the other hand, we have seen Charlton win a league, and win at Wembley in the over the last 15 years. Sure we are in the dark ages of Charlton in reality, but there are plenty of die hard fans of other teams who haven't even seen those 2 minor wins.
Would love to see European qualifying teams not being eligible for the league cup (as they don’t take it seriously anyway) and therefore it would give everyone else a chance to win something. You’d have to remove European qualification as a prize though.
The semis are Spurs v Liverpool and Newcastle v Arsenal! 🤣

Anything's better than being cannon fodder in League 1, and I'd consider any trophy worth celebrating aside from the JPT or whatever it's called this season.
However, a football landscape where clubs of our size and bigger can't have realistic dreams that extend beyond finishing 9th, it's not much to get excited about.
Just watching Palace v Arsenal and noticed as they came onto the pitch that the away team has to walk alongside the makeshift tunnel while Palace players walk through it. Never noticed this before - has this been the case for a long time? Seems a bit of a petty thing to do, forcing the oppo to be exposed to the elements before the game. Lacks a bit of class imo.

Typical muggy Palarse thing to do.
Maybe they are trying to intimidate the away team by exposing them to the "cauldron" earlier .....

It started during Covid when the dressing rooms and entrances had to be separate for each team.

Ah, I see.
Feels like they could’ve changed it back by now though eh?

What, with nearly 3 people on average in each hospital with covid? Wash your mouth out.

The Holmesdale Fanatics thing is utterly embarrassing. I'd assume even their own fans cringe at 200 blokes pretending they support a club like Napoli or Inter, when, in fact, they follow a club with zero identity. Sad.

And those flipping stickers are everywhere, saw some in Crawford today on a couple lampposts.

I worked there on a charity game in the summer. They have a big portacabin to the side of that shit stand with the exclamation mark on it that was installed during Covid that is still used for away teams, and it’s genuinely pathetic. There’s no way to funnel people out of that into the tiny corridor that leads to the remarkably claustrophobic home dressing room.

Well said, 1961 and counting.
Most disliked club in London, two bob.
No way is that palace , scum are vile compared to the choristers I mean are they even London (it’s a Bromley thing I’m sure )

Badly.
