Well done fellas. Considering we've only just met that was a great result and I thought we deserved it. Thanks to Trev for organising and a big shout out to Steve who had a great game at left mid! Looking forward to the next one! Adam the bloke that shouts a lot at left back
Well done lads...looking forward to the match report.....if I'm well enough (sadly I wont be able to play any more) but I'll come down to the game a do a match thread (if there is wi-fi available of course). Sounds as though you had a great time this morning...I'm just bloody envious of you all!!
The first team manage two wins in a week and the supporters team completed the hatrick.
Was getting a bit worried when it hit 10am and there was only 3 of us, then the cavalry arrived and we ended up with 12!
Amazing performance, especially when you think none of us met until today.
1 nil down at HT and a great second half for us scoring 4 goals to win. We hit the post and the crossbar more then once so could of been more.
Big thanks to everyone who turned up, giants on the pitch the lot of ya, and thanks to the Dulwich lads who are a great bunch. Proud of everyone who turned up on a cold Feb morning to play or cheer us on.
Looking forward to match report from 3blokes, and Ill post up some of the pics he took of the game on here when I get em off my phone.
Great game lads, glad I dragged myself out of bed for it. Really enjoyed it and for a group that didn't even know each other's names it was a great effort and everyone dug deep. Top man Trev for organising it and here is to many more games! Cabbie/overweight CF
An impressive display by a rather impromptu gathering of Addicks considering they began their pre match talk with general enquiries as who played where. With a formation established and introductions made, the Addicks began the opening minutes of the game somewhat tentatively as they put a collective toe in the water to see how it might all pan out. They were up against a team that early on appeared composed, particularly at the back, and with some danger going forward out wide; and who also had the benefit of knowing each other's names. But what soon became apparent was that the Addicks too had composure in the middle of the park, and more importantly time and space there to start to fashion our game. The back 4 were solid and talking to each other and there was a target man up front who could hold up the ball to bring team mates in. Slowly a bit of belief grew. Then suddenly we hit the post. Significantly now the talking on the pitch was mostly from the Addicks urging each other on. We hit the crossbar, had a decent enough penalty shout turned down, whilst at the other end our keeper's main duties were rushing out of his area to put the ball in tree Z when required. Then a blip in progression. A defensive lapse let Dulwich in for them to snatch a shade undeserved lead just before half time. The Addicks had just cause to feel a touch miffed at the break to be a goal down in a game they were very much in. But their mood was unilaterally that they could get back in it if they did more of the same in the second half. The opening 10 minutes were a little fraught however, as substitutions from Dulwich delivered some pace and skill that caught the Addicks off guard. It was Dulwich's best period, and a goal at that point might have swung it away from our lads despite their best huff and puff. A foray into the Dulwich 6 yard box a few moments later revived Addicks fortunes with a penalty award. Their keeper parried the strike but the Addicks were quicker to the loose ball and it hit the net. The away support could feel a tangible change in the air. Suddenly the red marauders were horny for it. With the Addicks showing a steely determination to play a passing game despite the constraints of a muddy pitch, their football purism got just reward with a further goal taken sweetly after a scramble in the box. 2-1. The boys were happy as pigs in mud. But Dulwich were not beaten yet and came back with an equaliser and for a moment one sensed some tired limbs out there amongst the lads in red. Arguably a turning point came a few moments later when Dulwich hit the post and the loose ball cannoned into the welcoming arms of the Charlton custodian. Then in a flash the game changed. Cabbies the Addicks target man had a speculative strike that was let through by their keeper. 3-2. The energy was back. Organising each other with hoarse shouts and a foot in every place it needed to be to thwart the opposition, the boys held on, and joyously sealed the win with the best goal from Conran ( I used to teach him, he was always my favourite ;-) deploying a fine opportunistic volley from the outside of his boot. 4-2. They played out the final few moments resolutely. A fine victory remarkable team spirit and will to win. It could be the start of something ...... :-)
Excellent report, thanks @3blokes. Not knowing each others names must have spooked the opposition a little. Their confidence will be blown for a while:)
Really enjoyed that! The situation didn't call for any outfield shenanigans - if we'd gone three goals ahead I might have put in a request, but happy to play a part in a hard-fought win, even if I did scuff a couple of my Neuer clearances straight to them. Some great performances, especially from the big lads up top (thanks again for the lift! Two great bits of opportunism) and in defence (what a hit, such solid defensive work, my MOM) and our dynamic duo in midfield! Everyone worked really hard and did their bit to stem the blue & pink tide, then replace it with a red one - we played some lovely stuff.
At half time we smelt blood and we were actually pretty unlucky to be 1 down. I think my suggestion of "their goalie is really short, we should just try and lob him" worked a treat....
Everyone was class today, put in a real shift. Not bad for a team who didn't even know each others names. Hopefully the first of many! Connor/Centre mid
Hope possession was 70-30 in favour of Dulwich and that we were camped in our own penalty area for the majority of the game, conceding corner after corner. If not...you're not fit to wear the shirt. Not proper Charlton.
Amongst all the fine performances to a man, I ought to also mention Silver Steve ( I'm sure that was your name but no idea of your username) who clearly had more "experience" than his youthful counterparts, but was running round the park like a young buck despite taking a couple of hefty knocks. A member of the away support was heard to comment that he was "fit". It may have been a tribute to his commendable stamina or this fledging band of players already has its eye candy for the female following. Steve, you old rascal......;-)
After years of organising first for CIFC and then a few games for CLFC, I know how much grief it is to actually make these things happen, so well done to all involved... Sorry to have missed this (am just back from a half term holiday) and will do my utmost to be available/support as and when the next game happens. Cheers
If it wasn't for a poxy wedding i would of been there and look forward to the next game. The pics look like it was great fun and really miss my Sunday morning football.Well done lads
If I wasn't shit and injured id have been there. Don't mind when it's just being rubbish cos at least I can run around a bit. Imagine a shit slow Simon Church.
I would have had some of this but was travelling back from Wigan, defo would be in future although if I have a game on the sunday I'm not sure how my ageing body would deal with 2 games in 2 days....

If you arrange a home fixture I'm sure you'll get some support. Can we have names to the line up? Nosey cow me.
Don't mind when it's just being rubbish cos at least I can run around a bit. Imagine a shit slow Simon Church.
Don't judge! The poor lad does three paper rounds every morning!
