    Bang on the money, said with true passion and making the point, this is not only about CAFC it is also about the invertebrate's of the Football League who run and supposedly monitor owners of clubs. Shame on the lot of them.

    Nice one Stevo! Very well informed, clearly still loves the club. Says everything we feel. When will this end?

    Stevie Brown won't let you down
  • Gave everything for the club as a player, now doing the same as a commentator. Right up there as one of my all time favourites.

    The passion in Brown's voice just chokes me! He always won the 'dirty shorts award' from my friend and I when he played because he always gave his all! Always had the dirtiest kit from superb defending. Lol

    Sadly he seems to have found his level, shuttling around the lower leagues in Kent and Sussex

    What ever his management credentials, I think as a number two in lower leagues he'd be a great asset.

    He's a character and not a pre-madonna, wasn't it him, Nelson and Robinson who in the early days car shared up from Brighton to training and the matches, think he had a cavalier at the time from what I remember Nelson saying that left a lot to be desired and often broke down.

    He'll remember what it was like to not be a highly paid premiership player (or even league 1 level these days), good move and hope it works out for him. He'll certainly get a shift out of the players and if they don't put 100% in they'll know about it.

    From his wiki;

    "After attaining his UEFA A Licence in 2008, Brown agreed to become the Brighton youth team manager. During his spell at Brighton his team finished second and fifth in the league and progressed through to the fourth and third rounds of the FA Youth Cup. In his two-year spell at Brighton, 11 youth players signed professional contracts, five of which made first-team appearances."

    Doesn't sound a bad coach to me.

    You've got your dates mixed up here mate, "Like a Virgin" was a Number One hit back in 1984 whereas Steve Brown didn't make his debut for us until 1990 - away at Watford if I recall correctly.

    Quick, Bow ...... Get Browny in to coach the defence, even if it's only 1 day a week.

    You know, like Karl Gobbo did bringing you in to coach the midfield.

    An excellent piece, as so many of Benjy Nurick's are. We really could use a specialist defensive coach and someone like Browny or his ilk would be just the ticket. A significant amount of the work is probably repetitive drills to ingrain good habits into the players, both individually and collectively. I'm sure that Ged Roddy will be looking at this sort of issue in his capacity as Technical Director.

    In fairness, by no means all of our defensive problems this season are attributable to the back line - the amount of space we have, on occasions, afforded the opposition in midfield has been criminal. Having players like Stockley, who can make the ball stick and bring others into play, and Millar, who can carry the ball and get us up the pitch, will also be a big help.
  • Fascinating, the art of good defending is definitely something which can improve with good coaching
  • Hopefully we will get more coaches in now the budget allows, love browny and in an ideal world would have a coach for the strikers.

    A really good read. Always like Benjy's stuff, loved Steve Brown as a player and would be great to get him back on board in a coaching capacity.
