A parent watching the cricket as we exercised our dogs this morning inviting them to meet an additional needs group just down the road from the school.
Despite their schedule at St George’s it’s impossible to say no to such a privilege.

Driving 5hr 30min home from Newquay, getting to my door just after 11pm without any breaks last night

Walked a bit like John Wayne when I crawled out of the car and could have travelled home this morning instead as that's when our tent pitch was booked until. But the last two years travelling home on a Friday / Saturday have resulted in a journey of around 8-hours.

The fact I'd be getting to watch the Leicester game today was secondary to my delight at leaving slightly earlier, as I never imagined I'd be around to see it, and thought I'd be listening in via. radio instead whilst getting pissed off with the traffic.

I would have thought if you had driven from Newquay without brakes you would have got home sooner :p

    Ooo just remembered another thing.

Being down in Cornwall each year, allows me to pick up a couple of cases of Healey's Strawberry & Lime / Berry Cider... I'm not a massive drinker so that should get me through to next year now.

Why not spend the last day down there and leave late afternoon when the traffic's mostly gone?
It's basically an extra day's holiday, and you can stop somewhere nice en route for a massive lunch.

To be fair its something we'll consider doing next year as well.

We also had to come home slightly early as our dog hurt his paw (grass seed) the other day, and my wife wants to take him along to his usual vet, just to get him checked out before the Bank Holiday... So was a multitude of reasons for leaving slightly early.

The skill of packaging designers. Those that don't use plastic but origami style cardboard constructions. This amused me this morning. Flat(ish) piece of card:

Folds up to become the perfect separator for four beer glasses...

Every year I receive a short test on “Safe guarding “ children while working at the school, every year through the summer holidays I worry if I’ll be invited back.
Today I received said email and my worry is over for another year, our dogs will now start their 15th year as Therapy dogs and their 12th as Reading dogs.
I’ve had the privilege of working with some fantastic young people and watching them grow into young adults some with careers in teaching and the military, others living their lives with various forms of autism ranging from speech delay to ADHD and many others on the spectrum.
A non verbal child saying their first word or a child reading their first word from a book, a child who refuses to pass our dogs in the corridor to that same child asking to pet our dogs.
None of it would happen if the dogs weren’t there, but it does and I’m lucky enough to witness it all from the other end of the lead we’ll be back next week, trying to make a difference.

After retiring almost 21/2 ago and selling my company, deleting all the last 20 years of my old company emails from my home phone, iPad and computer. I now feel that that era of my life is finally over and I’m retired.

Don’t forget if you meet him again, you paid for his education, that winds them up as well.

Footballers having their first names on the back of their shirt strikes me as a bit poncy, but I've always thought it's easier to get away with if you've got a more exotic sounding name rather than something like Kevin. So this on the BBC transfer deadline day roundup made me giggle

Vitesse Arnhem getting their professional license back. They were given 1% chance of survival and they done it.

Northants winning their T20 quarter final. Probably the worst team in pro cricket, but here we are at finals day yet again.

A month ago I saw myself in a photo with Mrs Redmidland, that day I decided to do something about my ever extending waistline.
I joined a gym belonging to a neighbour and despite being helped by members of similar age groups it only lasted a week before my arthritic hands were to much, but one piece of advice given was.
I started piling on the pounds after losing three of our dogs because I was doing less walking.
    So getting moving again!
From an average of 25,000 steps down to 6/7000 on a daily basis.
So my target of 10000 daily was set and when not out with my two dogs a treadmill was bought to make up the difference, I also cut out eating rubbish instead of crisps and sweets I make a homemade yogurt with fruit and oats with added protein and keep in the fridge and have a couple of spoons instead.
Ive lost a stone to date, but more importantly I found myself feeling better mentally and physically and wanting to do more about getting fitter.
Old age stinks, but I’m aiming to be one of the fittest in the graveyard 😉
  • Went out a lake with the Camera for Sunrise this morning.

Didnt realise that the Car Park where I was going only opened at 6am, just presumed that you'd have to pay from 6am, and anything beforehand would be free entry - So got to the entrance this morning just after 5am to find it fenced off.

Bloke in the hut comes out, and asks why I'm there, so explain... He's another one into Landscape Photography, and because he was going down to the Jetty in 5-10mins, he basically invited me to follow him down to the water front, and he'd show me a few good spots to setup from.

Am sure if I'd waited outside till 6am, I'd still have got some great light in time, as Sunrise wasn't until 6:20am this morning... But I'm pretty confident I wouldn't have been in the right place without his advice.

I've just spent a night in Bruges and it really has surpassed expectations. So clean and feels so safe.
