  • Not going Charlton Monday, but going to Brands Hatch for British SuperBikes.
  • Kirsty Gallagher's white top on SSN right now.
  • Visiting my daughter in Durham for the weekend, with plans for a comedy night, breakfast in Tynemouth, a big dinner on Saturday night and a long walk on Sunday.

I love it up there. I was working in Newcastle last week. I had some free time one afternoon and walked from Tynemouth to the Lighthouse at St Mary's. It was fantastic - loads of grey seals on the rocks. Lovely.

Hans, if you get the chance to do this walk I'd highly recommend it. And the pub is fantastic; it bills itself as 'The best pub in Monkwearmouth Station', but it's far better than that. I've already got it down as a possible contender for Stig's Year In Beer, Pub of the Year.
  • That's great, thank you @Stig.

This is one of those examples where a picture would tell a story far better than words my friend
    Apologies, next time.

Although if I get caught by the missus with my phone pointing at the screen and my trousers round my ankles, it could be awkward.
  • Dipping my bread and strawberry jam sandwich in my tea.

  • The LME being closed on all English public holidays, spent ten years having to go in on bank holidays for no more than a day in lieu
  • Little pink plastic pigs. Flying.

In the luggage room right now. Fabulous beer, and Mrs Idle almost fainted with delight when she saw the best gin menu ever.
Top choice, @stig, it was well worth the detour.
  • And here it is
  • I'm working in Newcastle again next week. For my afternoon off I was considering either a spot of art in Gateshead or getting the train down to Durham to see the cathedral. You might have just done enough to persuade me to go back to Monkwearmouth though  Enjoy the the beer/gin.
  • If you haven't been to Durham I highly recommend it - a lovely city indeed. Better still, it will be relatively free of students next week.
  • My new Stan smiths in baby blue!
  • My 94 yr old grandad recognising me as soon as I walk into the door.

Last time I saw him he wasn't sure if I was my Dad/uncle/a randomer...

Your Dad and Uncle are probably too sensible to walk into the door

  • That's good. Did you really walk into a door?

Haha didn't spot that. I imagine walking into a door would confuse him even more.
  • Managing to successfully set up all the toys, games and race tracks that my boy got for his 4th birthday

In the Market Tavern now. Nice pub with the friendliest land lady ever. Not sure how I feel about being called Flowerpot' though.
  • Hope you've had decent weather and enjoyed the city.
The river walk is lovely and not too long, and the place is heaving with odd little pubs. The cathedral square is gorgeous on a sunny day, (no more so than when your offspring is graduating).
  • Being in Amsterdam when four days ago I didn't have any plans to be here!
