Get in. Ali is silencing a few people at the moment! 2-30 odd, the key wickets of Clarke and Smith as well.1

I have been so impressed with our display in the field today. It is not easy going out there but we have stuck to our plans, toiled very hard and kept the intensity up. Very refreshing.
Alistair Cook is playing a blinder wih his captaincy as well.
Let's keep this going, come on England.
Shane Watson next, LBW to Anderson maybe?!1 -
WICKET! Voges gone.
258-5
Voges c Anderson b Stokes 31 (75)0 -
Get in.
What a spell from Stokes. This is what I meant earlier about toiling away. Built the pressure ... Gone!!0 -
In comes a nightwatchman... Nathan Lyon joins Shane Watson.0

Australia using a nightwatchman .. unusual for them .. must be very rattled1

Australia batting slower than us and using a nightwatchman!Lincsaddick said:Australia using a nightwatchman .. unusual for them .. must be very rattled

It seems that they've looked at England, seen that England have an Australian coach and tried to counter that by being as England-like as possible. Slow scoring rate; using nightwatchmen; bowling erratically; being a bit old...killerandflash said:

To be fair, the rate is only slow by the standards of this summer's Tests in England0

That was a great final session. Credit to Alastair cook and fantastic stuff by moen ali3

Well... and who can blame them when you look at how dominant English Cricket has been vs the Aussies over the last 30 years!Chizz said:

I only have test match special available to me, but its sounded like two good days of cricket despite the lifeless pitch. Yesterday very even and today was Australia's day up to tea and England's after that.
2 days down and all three results possible from here, just how test cricket should be, lets just hope the weather doesn't rob us of a result.

Rain is due to wash out the final day. But hopefully, it will change before then.

That depends on whether England are about to win or Australia need 40 with 8 wickets left :-)Covered End said:Rain is due to wash out the final day. But hopefully, it will change before then.

And if we are in danger of losing and the rain ain't coming there's always George Davis. He is innocent after all.killerandflash said:

A blast from the past. I remember my mum, waking me up & telling me, the game was off for the day, because someone had dug up and or poured oil, on the wicket (without googling).Addick Addict said:

I remember it vividly. I was only about 14.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sKpA78cXHZc

If someone digs up the pitch, it'll be Mitchell Johnson hoping to replace it with one with more pace and bounce!Covered End said:

I toured with his nephew who, ironically, now lives in Australia. He seemed to think he was innocent ;-)0
-
What happened to George Davis? is he still alive?0
-
I think whoever's batting at lunch time on day 3 will be in the driving seat to win.0
-
Not necessarily.Chizz said:I think whoever's batting at lunch time on day 3 will be in the driving seat to win.
If Oz are still 80 behind with 1 or 2 wickets left - which could be likely, then England will definitely have the advantage. Any substantial lead (50+) with Oz batting last on this strip will be a very big advantage.0 - Sponsored links:

Cook taking one in the happy sack
I felt that one in my balls and stomach1 -
The best news all day was Starc doing his ankle - they will be fucked without him now that Harris has gone and we are putting on low and slow pitches that nullify Johnson.0

He'll be able to go back to his old singing vocation, single treble parts in the choir...Carter said:Cook taking one in the happy sack

I wouldn't write off Starc yet .0

Anyone know what the mercenary (formerly known as KP) is doing these days?
Natal?
Cannock CC?
Notts?
England?
Hants?
Royal Challengers?
Surrey?
Deccan Chargers?
Delhi Daredevils?
St Lucia Zouks?
Melbourne Stars?
Lashings?

Or, for that matter:
Who cares?

He's been playing 20/20 for St Lucia Zouks; got 83 against Jamaica the other day. Had a couple of other reasonable scores too, but don't think his team is doing that well. Been in Miami a bit too, and Dubai, doing promo and advertising bits. He tweets a lot so you always know where he is.Addick Addict said:Anyone know what the mercenary (formerly known as KP) is doing these days?

He's not playing for England, while Ian Bell (batting in KP's position!) can't buy a run ...Addick Addict said:Anyone know what the mercenary (formerly known as KP) is doing these days?

Plenty of people apart from KP that can step up should Bell get dropped thank you. Morgan, Bairstow, Hales (with a bit of a batting order shuffle), Taylor are scoring runs in county cricket trying to impress the selectors. Surely KP is doing is doing the same if he so badly wants back in? Oh no wait he's massaging his ego on a beach in St Lucia.2 -
Hey, lets forget KP. England already have. The way they have played in the NZ test series and in the first couple of days in Cardiff fills me with optimism. They're are playing positive, attacking cricket and long may it continue. If they can play like this more often than not and blood the youngsters at the same time then KP will long be forgotten.5
