  • Lyth doesn't look like lasting much longer.

A word on Jimmy - Outstanding. What a bowler.

Think england will have a first innings lead of about 140, being pessimistic with that prediction. Probably 70-3 at the close.

In 48 overs?!? That is Boycott-esqe!
Think there will be more stoppages.
Raining. Gone off for an early tea.
    See I know everything
  • 7-0 play resumed.

    Lyth c Voges b Hazlewood 10

    19-1

Chased another wide one. What a dick. Get rid.
  • Lyth is like watching an action replay over and over. Same ball gets him every time. Painful

He needs a big score next innings or he should be out.
  • Lyth is just not international standard. Very different getting runs at county level and test level.

Agree. I feel for the guy but England are effectively batting with ten men. Amazed he got to double figures today.
  • Just another ramprakash/hick. Can do it against county trundlers but give him some international standard bowling to face and he melts.
  • I'm a bit miffed that we're listening to 2 Aussies commentating on a series in England!!

Geoff boycott has a weird voice but it ain't Australian. Mute the telly!

Watching on Sky, Ponting & Warne doing the commentary
  • He dives to the left, he dives to the right.
Mitchell Johnson, his fielding is shite.

    Great atmosphere

    64-1

We're going Friday. Looking forward to it.
  • Bell playing some lovely shots.

I've always thought he should bat at 3
  • 76-1

    Bell hits 3 consecutive 4's.

57 run partnership off 54 balls.

Lyth doesn't know where his stumps are.

He is like a rabbit in headlights at the moment. A walking wicket.

Needs to be taken out of the firing line. I'd rather Hales went in and had a slog.
  • Bloody hell. How unlucky was that.

    Cook c Voges b Lyon 34

    76-2

First time I've seen someone take a catch with their eyes closed and not having a scooby.
Cook very unlucky, caught at short leg.
  • Bloody hell. How unlucky was that.

    Was what? Not a wicket??
  • Cook very unlucky. Voges still doesn't know he caught that and it was five minutes ago!

  • F*** me, classic. I switch on the cricket and the first ball I see is the luckiest catch in the history of the game. Jammy Aussie f**kers!
  • pah, never could play spin...
  • The irony with lyth is that he survived all the tough stuff...and wafted at a very wide delivery. Presumably because it was an opportunity for runs.

Dont think he is test quality - but bringing in an inexperienced opener in for the next test could be asking for trouble
  • How has Compton done this season?

Thought he was unlucky to be dropped in first place.

He got absolutely caned for his batting and footwork at Lords by Atherton and Nass a couple of years ago and was branded not up to test level.

I've said it before and I doubt im the first person to sat it but international test cricket is 80% mental toughness. Lyth plainly has ability but he looks overwhelmed I'm sure he holds his breath whilst at the crease too. I'd give him another test but who is waiting in line to take his place? Hales isn't the answer to the opener headache

    50 for Ian Bell

  • Lovely batting by Bell.
  • Stupid big mouth, that is a Warneresque throw away of your wicket.
  • 133-3

And the rain falls down on a hum drum town.

If they are not back on by 7pm, it will be close of play.

I reckon they'll all make sure, they don't get back on.
  • Play abandoned for the day. Extra half hour to be added tomorrow.
