  • Yay I got a flag, shame it was for a huge dollop of commentator's curse.

No problem it amused me. Just thought it was funny to get one for being a "Bell End".

    Englands day today.
Whoever has won the first day of the first 2 tests has gone on to win the Test comfortably - lets hope it continues.
England need a lead of 300 before i will feel comfortable - who wants us chasing more than a 100 on day 3/4 ??!!
Think its lined up as a Stokes smashathon for tomorrow - if he can score a ton tomorrow - or if anyone can - then more than likely takes the game away from Oz.

    We're in the lead !
What a nice feeling that is - all runs scored now are in da bank.
  • Bairstow c Nevil b Johnson 5

    An absloute snorter tbf.
  • Bairstow gone - gloved Johnson.
  • Brilliant from Johnson. Bairstow gone fending off a bouncer.

    Stokes c Nevil b Johnson 0

    Another snorter.

    142-5.
  • And Stokes goes exactly the same way.

  • Reckon we'll have a 30-40 lead!
  • In the right conditions both these bowling attacks are top draw. But, equally, both batting line ups have massive holes in them.

And that is what makes this a great series.
  • Brilliant bowling from Johnson. Unplayable
  • Brilliant bowling from Johnson. Write him off at your peril.
  • Never as easy as it is on paper - lead of 200 - pah!!! If we can make it to a score of over 200 I will be pleased. This game is still very much in the balance, and I wouldn't actually mind a few bob on the Aussies winning it at this stage...
  • As I said earlier in the thread, if you're batting last, you need a 100 1st innings lead imo.
  • I know that it is very easy to be critical from the comfort of the sofa but I am intrigued as to why the hands of Bairstow and Stokes are so high.

That suggests that they are trying to get into a position where they are going to hook Johnson but, given how difficult it is to do so, shouldn't the decision be to drop the hands and duck or sway?
  • Yes, but easier said than done!

I agree. Fair enough Bairstow getting done/surprised, as we've not seen a delivery like that in this Test.

But slightly disappointed that Stokes, didn't get his hands down a touch more, when he had a good idea, what was coming.
  • Once again it's only root who has the cajones to face fast bowling.

  • Just duck ffs.
  • Bairstow has been in fantastic form this year. Yes that doesn't prove he is cut out for test cricket, but give the bloke a chance. One brilliant ball shouldn't mean he is written off straight away.

    Root c Voges b Starc 63.

    182-6 lead 46
  • Oh dear Root...
  • Bloody hell England
  • We def need a 100 lead here at least.
  • I'm surprised he managed to reach it!
  • This could be over by tomorrow night at this rate.

We won't bowl the aussies out that quickly second time up...
  • Lyth, Bell, Root all out to stupid shots. The bowlers must be fuming.
