Luzon is set to add Simon Makienok to his team The 24-year-old only signed for Palermo last summer in a £3 million deal from Brondby, but he struggled to adapt to Serie A life despite being chased by a number of European clubs.
He managed 12 goals in 24 appearances in the 2013/2014 season and five goals in 31 appearances the year before that in native Denmark – the striker only managed four appearances, and failed to score with Palermo last season.
The Denmark international will arrive at Charlton this week on a season-long loan, however the Addicks have an option to sign him permanently at the end of the season.
There is an error in his scoring record in that piece. It is actually very impressive:
2014-15 0 goals from 4 apps at Palermo; 3 from 5 Brondby 2013-14: Brondby 12 from 24 apps 2012-13: Brondby 15 goals from 31 apps 2011-12 (2 clubs) 10 from 31 at the age of 20-21.
We are all willing to give EH Ba the benefit of the doubt for not getting a chance at Sunderland. It looks like Makienok is a goals machine at the right level.
Has a slightly better goalscoring record then Igor had in the same Danish league from what i have read, so no reason he could not do a good job in the Championship and grab us 10 plus goals this season with the right service.
Just hope his terrible season in Italy has not damaged his confidence.
Just seen a rumour it's a twelve month loan with an option to buy. Anyone ITK want to confirm that?
Not true until Colin tells us
I've just spoken with Colin, and he can neither confirm nor rule out anything until he has decided the time is right for him.
Such is the complexity of the deal, Colin has decided that he will wait until the player has featured in 2 games and then generate a roumour that we're interested and then announce the signing after a further 3 games. It will be the biggest scoop of Colin's BS career.
I really think he could be the real deal. Impressed with the fact that he takes the ball on his chest sometimes and not just a flick on. Shows good strength and seems reasonable on the deck.
"The giant 24-year-old striker made a name for himself with Danish 1st Division side HB Køge, netting 22 goals in 54 league appearances as a youngster before making the move to Brondby IF in 2012.
After plundering 35 goals in 74 league appearances for the Superliga giants, Makienok caught the attention of clubs across Europe, securing a big move to Serie A with Palermo last September and Guy Luzon has now moved to bring the forward to England until at least the end of the 2015/16 season.
The Næstved-born forward has earned full international recognition for Denmark, making his debut for his country in a 3-0 victory over Czech Republic in a World Cup qualifier in March 2013 andhas won six caps in total, also featuring against Italy, Georgia, Armenia and Bulgaria.
Makienok is set to become the tallest player to have every appeared for the Addicks' first-team and will wear the number nine shirt during his time at The Valley.
"We now have a player who finally fills that number nine position we have been searching for," said Luzon of his third signing of the summer.
"He will make us stronger in attack and his height will give us a very different threat which defenders will find difficult to play against, but he is very good with his feet, also."
"I'm very pleased to welcome him to Charlton and to continue building my team for the Championship," he added".

Seems to be some thought into them actually being promising players that may improve the team rather than what Standard had hanging around.
More in the Igor/JBG mould (and the Polish Pete one admittedly, so no guarantees!) than the Network one.

Bring it on Championship.
