I played in Sporting Lisbons stadium in a charity match a couple of months ago so got pally with a few of my Portuguese team mates. Just asked what they think of Sarr....

    Not great reviews...

'Seriously one of the worst defenders i saw in my life'

Hoping the Super Bock and heat have affected their judgement.

Whole different style of defender and young, I still have high hopes.

    Welcome Naby!

Emailed the Sporting fan I work with as I'm off at the moment. He said he has potential, was an u20 champion 2 years ago, came through the Lyon academy and needs to improve his positioning.

Is that the Twitter account of France Football (as in the Balon D'or guys) ? High praise if so.

On the Facebook page one Sporting fan says he is the next Desailly, and a couple of others suggest that he is beyond atrocious.

No idea on what to expect until we see him!

    I suspect somewhere in between.
Maybe he was their Simon Francis, and now we've got Bournemouths Simon Francis, if you get what I mean. Sometimes it doesn't work at certain clubs.
Looking forward to making my mind up when I see him play.

We've got Bauer and Diarra as our first choice centre backs anyway, so we don't need to shove Sarr in the first XI if he's not up to the job right away.

    Welcome Naby.

I'd have though 'Sarr man, waiting in the sky' would be appropriate, with his height.

He's 21 - he is not going to be the finished article

He is imposing, dominant in the air and a prospect. A typical signing of late.

One of which is a defensive midfielder. If Sarr has come in for c£1.5m, then I am not sure the aim is to play second fiddle to someone who is filling in.

Diarra will do a job in various positions, but he isn't a first choice centre back.

To be honest I dont see the difference... Any opposition Striker suddenly becomes confident of scoring when they see they're playing Charlton next so no change there really

    Thumbs up to this.

Will be nice to see teams cack themselves when they see the size of our side.

Will we need to raise the players tunnel? And lower the dugout?

Send him forward for corners along with Makienok, they might be as good as penalties next season!

When the teams come out of the tunnel (and when Chris isnt Captain) can we have him stand between Makienok and Sarr?
At least Solly will now get plenty of warning that its starting to rain, he'll have ample time to get his wellies on, and packamak out of the car!. This could be a clever ploy by Guy to help save Sollys rusty knees.
