Wouldn't be surprised if Crofty stands to wind down either. They've already got Harry Benjamin ready to go as the replacement, I suspect he's doing a few rounds this year that Crofty doesn't fancy. Jacques Villeneuve I'm not convinced by as a pundit either , yes he's very honest and forthright with his views but he comes across as someone that wants to make sure people know he thinks he's the smartest man in the room.
I struggled with Benjamin last year... Found him a bit too flat, and the constant banging on about Imola being a track where your guaranteed a 100% chance of a Safety Car was just... Yeah... Hopefully it'll boil down to experience with him, and he'll show signs of improvement when he steps in on occasion this season too.

Villeneuve surprised me with brief glimpses of his ability in the Commentary booth, he was on it, the moment that Russell f**ked his lap (on two occasions) during his last Quali run impressed me... But needs to do that more.
Think Benjamin is just learning the difference between radio and TV commentary. He's also ridiculously young so plenty of time to learn as you say

At least Benjamin is a tier above Chris McCarthy who puts me to sleep and relies far too much on Alex Brundle.

Worst case scenario; McCarthy if he ever makes the step up, will go to F1TV rather than Sky.

Jake Sanson is probably my favourite Commentator for Motor Racing, but even then he can be a bit shouty

Iwasa replacing Verstappen for FP1, as part of the Rookie thingy in Bahrain.

Why the hell didn't they just do that in Suzuka; All Japanese Red Bull line-up in a Honda tribute livery... They've dropped a massive coco pop!!

Iwasa is doing Super Formula too, so he's basically out there already!!

Presumably wanted to gather data they could trust for setup decisions etc. - it was already Yuki's first session in Red Bull

They don't seem to have solved the problem of overtaking cars in dirty air. Sunday's race was a prosession.

Not going to be overtaking in clean air. I domt think DRS has worked as intended and nor have the aero changes which were supposed to ensure less dirty air. The cars are too wide and there are not enough places where overtaking is feasible on a track, drivers have enough battery to defend these fairly easily.

Narrow cars, a much bigger restriction on wing levels, thinner tyres and a powerful overtake button instead of DRS will help a lot, I believe most of that is in the works for the new cars anyway?

P2 on debut is incredible. It's a shame he isn't going to be able to do the whole season

Hate it when Motor Racing clashes with Charlton!!

Seems like I've got something to look forward to when I watch it back

What another performance from Russell in Quali - He's going to become such a thorn in the battle for the WDC if he starts getting a couple of wins

Brilliant from Russell. Still think Piastri has more raw pace than Lando.

And Lewis. I have a funny feeling this is a couple of years too late for his Ferrari move. Looks decidedly over the hill when qualy starts to get serious.

Wont be surprised if Bearman replaces Hamilton in 2-3 years time

Seems that Ferrari have dropped a bollock for the most part as well.

Great job from Oscar. Landos interviews still concern me that he's just not that great when the going gets tough. Russell and Antonelli will be fun to watch if the Merc has race pace

Norris needs to go and get advice from Russell over self-doubt.

I swear George has mentioned that he's got a psychologist to help him now, after a few races (e.g. Singapore) where he kept making silly mistakes

Hamilton is on the decline been obvious for a while, especially when qualifying is so important. Lando blew that big time, needs a big race tomorrow to help his own self doubt

Would be a very British thing for Lando to be in a dominant car and lose out on the WDC to his younger teammate

One place grid penalties for both Russell and Antonelli... thats harsh, seeing its not their fault. But then the FIA are a mess at the moment, seeing they couldnt even sort out the deleted laps for Hulkenberg, meaning that Albon would have gone into Q2.

    Spoilt by more awful commentary.
Missed the start but Slater was out very early.
    Pretty uneventful thereafter.

Uneventful. Slater out first lap with an unknown issue.

I’m watching in a slight delay, but what is the point of Ferrari starting in Mediums and then only giving their drivers a 3 or 4 lap offset to the other teams? I get not wanting use the hards with how they seem to be working for Red Bull but surely take a few more laps of pain and then unleash much fresher mediums and set yourself up for a late race blast on new softs?

Lovely move by Antonelli on Verstappen.

Alright, I take it back, the tyre offset seems to be working for Ferrari at the moment.

The problem with Russell’s transponder combined with Crofty’s commentary means this race has become very hard to follow, next to idea of gaps and positions

Safety car timing has killed Ferrari’s race. Needed it to come a few laps later. Probably would’ve been better gambling on the soft tires as the hards have clearly been slow.
