Assume Russell gets demoted? Can never bank on the FIA though

Would expect a +5 unless there's evidence of a wider issue with DRS.

Pretty bizarre how many electronic gizmos were inexplicably malfunctioning this race.
Red Bull’s pit release light, Russell’s transponder, DRS issues for McLaren, Ferrari and Mercedes, Norris’ mystery red light.
Add to that, for the second time already this year, the on screen graphics for viewers was a complete mess - with the time tower missing for extended periods and replays being indicated wrongly.
You'd think, with these teams being at the cutting edge of technology and the insane amount of money in the sport, that they’d be able to iron out these sorts of gremlins!

The on screen graphics issue was linked to Russell’s transponder, it was messing everything up. Wouldn’t be surprised if DRS issues were linked to it too as they all happened to Russell and cars behind him

Russell cleared because he lifted off after the DRS issue. Hulk DSQ for excessive plank wear.

Seems a sensible decision re: Russel’s DRS.

I wonder if they have a new contractor providing the data transmission systems. Russel’s non-penalty notice mentions “an external party”.

So rumours that the Soverign fund of Saudi Arabia that part own Aston Martin want to buy out Stroll and offer Max $225m over three years to join! https://www.planetf1.com/news/aston-martin-respond-reported-300-million-max-verstappen-move

They were quoted this week as wanting to have a Saudi owned team and I mean they already have a finger in the Aston pie so it makes sense.

Apparently they're also pushing to have Jeddah stay on the calendar when Qiddiya opens, and have 2 Saudi races, so no doubt that will happen in the near future

He lacks self belief at times. You can see that with the Netflix documentary

Norris quote when he downplayed Lewis 7 world titles as ‘only having to beat your teammate’ is not aging very well…..

I think Piastri coming out and winning so comprehensively in Bahrain has really changed the balance at McLaren. I know it's early in the season and things can change in an instant but I wouldn't want to be Zak Brown or Andrea Stella having to manage this.

I don't think there's much between Oscar and Norris ,but Norris is lacking consistency ,a few weeks break will do him good .

Max will be in the title hunt till the end he's too good not to be

Norris has higher highs but also lower lows. Piastri’s consistency will be a massive weapon in this championship. Don’t think the Red Bull is good enough for Verstappen to challenge at enough races to win the drivers championship

He's having to drive on the absolute limit every race just to stay in contention, which he's obviously capable of doing all year, but currently i don't think their car is good enough for him to win enough races.

Just watched the F2 Sprint Race for the first time, good to see Lindblad getting his first victory (and the youngest winner in F2)

    But Verschoor really was robbed!!

Really really weird race and really badly commentated by Chris McCarthy. Didn't figure out the Bennett penalty until afterwards!

I'm sure Red Bull will close the gap ,it's a long season and they aren't too far away ,granted last weekend was rubbish for them

Impressive win for Richard Verschoor in the F2 feature race, starting 9th on the grid, using the alternative strategy.

Pleased for him, after the Sprint race... Wonder what he'll go on to do if he wins the title this season, as no chance of him getting in F1 after five seasons at this level.

Indycar must be a good bet. Or WEC.

He's got WEC written all over him, not good enough for even IndyCar IMO and hasn't got serious money backing to buy a seat

Yeah Verschoor has WEC all over him , won't have the backing for Indycar and there's enough Hypercar/LMDH teams coming that he should find a seat.

You say he doesn’t have the backing for Indycar but he has been paying for an F2 seat for 5 years. Thats a fair sum of money sunk and Indycar isn’t as expensive as you think.

Looking at his racing record from karts upwards he bears all the hallmarks of being funded from somewhere.

Got a feeling this is going to be a really good Grand Prix
