Hamilton drops down to 15th, finishes 3rd and Verstappen still gets driver of the day!

    Pissed off!
Stopped getting annoyed by driver of the day ages ago and haven’t paid much attention for a while now. It’s a popularity contest where the actual driving on display barely moves the needle.
Hamilton probably won’t ever win one because there are too many Hamilton haters out there. I don’t think he’ll lose any sleep over it.

Nothing will match that half season with Rio Haryanto on the grid and the Indonesian fan base stuffing the vote for DOTD.

Hamilton has won driver of the day the 3rd most times, behind Max and Seb.

He's won it twice already this season, at Canada and Catalunya, and won it twice last season too despite having a pretty shit season all around.

Max was imperious today, and even without the strategy balls-up from Ferrari I don't think he would have been caught

I thought Lewis' first stint on the slicks, staying out through the rain and the SC was amongst the best drives we've seen from anyone this year. Finishing on the podium after that strategy call is nothing less than magnificent.

What the hell Ferrari thought they were doing is anyone's guess. I don't like him, but if there's any truth to the Horner rumours, maybe he can sort out the mess at Maranello. Ferrari doing Ferrari things has become a meme in the last few years. If they cut out all the stupid mistakes they might be genuine challengers in both drivers and constructors.

Ferrari has done well in some aspects and to be honest have got away with their big mistake. They have developed the car well this season and a lack of power has cost them but they have shown they are capable of improving. Their big mistake was a good few races ago when they should have applied team orders and focussed on Hamilton's Championship challenge. They should have jumped all over Lerclerc trying to stop Hamilton winning it which was his attitude at that time. But having said that, we have seen since then that Ferrari had no chance whatever as the car was just not good enough. It is just at the time it couldn't be ruled out that they would make the improvements needed.

They have to be more ruthless in situations like this. That has to be a learning. Especially if their car is not the stand out best car. It isn't as if they are winning Word Championships on a regular basis. That would apply if Leclerc is in the hunt next season. I recall him pointing his car at Hamiltons on the grid when team orders should have applied, at the very least an order not to get in Hamilton's way. He is a top, fast driver but acted like a spoit brat and Ferrari let him. Also despie being a top driver, he pushes himself beyond his limits sometimes and has too many mistakes in him to ever be World Champion.
