I'm not going to even bother making my mind up about Fraeye - as I'm very confident he will fail in the long run, whether it be down to him or down to the lack of a squad.
Either way - he probably won't be manager here in 12 months time, so why should I really care?
I'm pretty sure you'll start to hate Marc Wilmots real soon, if ever he would be appointed. He's a real incompetent a'hole. I would like to see KF take control of the Belgian squad anyday !
I hope he's only close to losing the title of 'Interim' because we've found an actual football manager and not him.
I know its a Paradox, but the fact that he shouldn't have got the job, Doesn't mean he can't be good at this job. Will need luck in Players staying fit but that's the same problem for Wenger and Van Gaal. (Man Utd had to put 3 youth team players on the bench on Saturday)
Of course it'll be made permanent. For all the talk about Roland needing to trust the person, the reality is the wages these guys are on mean that it'll always be one of the network guys that gets the job.
So when Fraeye eventually goes then we get someone from Alcorcon or Ujpest ? Peters wasn't from the network which by the way is in real terms over.
Once Fraeye goes they'll have to go outside the network for sure, they'll have used everyone up! And yes Bob Peeters wasn't part of the network, but I'd be pretty confident that he'd have been asking for a lot less than any British manager would.
I beg to differ. RD has managers and assistant coaches he can pull from Ujpest, Alcoron and ST Trudien. I would not be surprised if one of the managers currently in place at these teams or their kit men even got offered the chance before people outside the network were looked at
This appointment is an insult to the club and the interim tag an insult to the intelligence of Charlton supporters. There was never going to be anyone else.
I can only say that I have it on decent authority that one championship manager has turned us down and last week we interviewed someone who I can only say did not reflect 'wisdom' to me. I believe, only my opinion, that the sort of manager that we need would not contemplate working under RD and KM. Imagine what Curbs would have to say.

There is a seedbed of mistrust into which these messages are sowed, and almost every sentence KM comes out with at the moment is scrutinised to within an inch of its life.
That does mean that a little bald honesty is welcome, and if they had intended for Fraeye to be a permanent coach from day one they should have said so.
But if it was a situation where he was coming in as a caretaker but they were prepared to view that as an audition, then what they've said is perfectly reasonable, and pretty much par for the course.
The bigger problem is the climate rather than the message, in my view. They need an experienced comms hand to steer them through this.
To be fair to Fraeye, he's done a lot better than I imagined he would - simply by making that tactical change around JBG's role that escaped Luzon. It's helped every department on the pitch and we look a lot stronger as a result. Everyone has to start from somewhere, and we had no idea how Curbs would do when he first took over.
All that said though, this is their 4th appointment in 2 years - even if you accept a short term boost in results as 'successful', no-one appoints a football manager with a view to replacing them in six months' time. I hope they really are continuing to plan their coaching recruitment behind the scenes, because however well Fraeye does if there's a better candidate out there (and Lambert would have been a great fit in my view) then the club ought to be looking to them.
2 wins & 2 defeats and that's sufficient to land him the job, really!
Especially in which he got key players back for of which our former coach was missing.... People have very short memories here. 2 wins and we're all happy with him, we were the same with Luzon then slating him to death when he didn't have a Plan B to cope with injuries.
Jackson seems to given the fella his backing pretty vocally and assuming he's not being told to do so, then that's a good enough recommendation for me in reality (for now)
Who wouldn't back a manager who is playing them after their predecessor pretty much froze him out.
When did Luzon freeze out Jackson or am I missing something?
He was already missing for Luzon's first matches because of an earlier injury and came back against Brentford, he barely lasted the half and was forced off through injury which kept him out for the rest of the season.
Fair enough he was on the bench against Queens Park Rangers at the start of the season but we won so Jackson (nor the fans) cant really complain yet he subsequently got picked and played against Peterborough...
Again he was due to play against Crystal Palace in the League Cup and was injured just beforehand, made his comeback getting a place on the bench against Fulham and came on because he wasnt 100% fit, now correct me if I'm wrong but since that match he's played every match?

Jackson never played against Peterborough
Sorry got Peterborough mixed up with Dagenham, forgot we'd played them in the First Round

So you've just changed your mind that " it will always be one of them " ?
Look. It's part of the strategy that the manager isn't paid a great deal. It will not be a British manager for that simple reason. Whether they come from the network or not, people are not being chosen because they're the best person for the job, but because they're cheap, as well as 'trusted' by Roland. There are graduates coming out of uni earning more in their first job than what Luzon was on, which is mental.

I think the telling thing after hearing Jackson, Henderson and JBG all say it, was Luzon didn't talk about the opposition, so when our form dropped, they could just play around us or through us because we didn't set up for what the oppo's would do. In both facets of the game we were better with and without the ball, in the last two games. Plus the profligate finishing of our opponents helps as well!
Agreed both Peeters and Luzon had good moments before the injuries kicked in. Peeters in a defensive way(we shall not loose) and Luzon in an attacking way(we dare to win) The net result with both of them was we went 10 weeks or so without winning when the paucity of the squad was revealed.

Fraeye, Wenger and Van Gaal mentioned in the same breath(just fell off my chair laughing).

If he does well he should carry on...what else is there to say?
2 good wins after 2 bad defeats under his management, repeat that on a regular basis and at least we'll stay up!
Will you be protesting Saturday?
I support the black and white idea because we need clarity over how the club's run and what the aims are. At the same time, despite Karel being yet another manager in a short space of time, I'd like to see him have a few more weeks just in case he turns out to be good. I thought we were dead certs for relegation and now I don't - so that has got to be a good thing.

We all have to give him our backing and hope he either gets some squad strengthening, or is lucky with injuries. In all honesty, those seemed to be the issues for the previous two managers.
What difference does his career background make? I don't care where he comes from what his background is.
To an extent I sympathise with this point of view. In terms of playing there are a lot of examples of average or even non players who have been good managers. Once they have got over the credibility issue with footballers they can be pretty successful. The issue is about the advice Alex Ferguson gave to Alan Curbishley, 'win matches'. I (also?) care that Fraeye wins matches, and that it should be his aim first and foremost. My reading of the situation is that Fraeye is deeply woven into the Duchatelet methodology, and the real question is does Roland want to win matches first and foremost.
