He’s never played a game at L1 level in his entire career...
13-14, 42 games with CAFC 14-15, 44 games with CAFC 15-16, 39 games with CAFC 16-17, 18 games with QPR 17-18, 15 games with QPR 18-19, 28 games with QPR
186 games. All in the second tier. And he’s only just coming up to his prime years theoretically.
At the very least, we need to sign about five midfielders for sufficient squad depth and on a free transfer we could do a hell of a lot worse than Jordan Cousins.
Cousins, harriott and Holmes are all proven commodities in league one and all of them have not succeeded at this level. That being said, given our budgetary issues, we need depth so while I wouldn’t sign them initially, I would continue to monitor in case there is a need eventually.
Again, he’s never played a single game at third tier level. All 186 games in his career have been played in the Championship.

Two time player of the year for us in the championship ; ok, the second year we were awful but we were decent the year before

Agreed, can do a lot worse than signing a player who is a free transfer, knows this level of football and knows the club. Even if he didn't start every game, he'd be a decent back up option. I don't see him as being any worse than Pratley who everyone seems to love.
I think with Cousins it's a taste of the old sour grapes for some people, which I get, but don't cut your nose off to spite your face. Get him in and that's someone who can play out wide if desperate, box to box, holder, right back and maybe even as a emergency centre back similar to Pratley.

Exactly - the Pratley comparison is perfect.
put it this way we need to replace those that are not coming back. Pratley is off I assume? Well if you word it as Pratley for Cousins it doesn’t sound quite so bad squad wise?
it doesn’t have to be seen as Cousins for Cullen for instance

I’d take him back like a shot . He knows the club . He’s a midfielder , which we are short of and he was a better player than some people on here are making out .
Pratley is on a two year so will be here next season.
I think Cousins adds more.
Blimey just seen Pratley was on a two year.
Surprised we offered a player of that age a two year but at least it’s a body in the building
He is much more than a body in the building. Look at why LB made him an early signing, and at which point in certain games he has used him. Deffo on my "keep list" for the Championship.

Good character and was instrumental in our last two games. However, i’d be concerned if he is a starting player next season, having played very little in the last 3-4 months in league one
Assuming Cousins has the same attitude as before, he's the sort of player Bowyer would go for. He always gave 100% and would play wherever he was required.
Hardworking player who I think Bowyer would really develop. Having said that, he's nowhere near Aribo or JFC or Cullen or Bielik if either or both of those returned.

I'm not sure it's easy to judge when we've only seen "our players" in L1. Cousins is an established Championship player.
Curbs always made sure he had a versatile player in the building.
For a start you can slot him in to replace an injured player, without disrupting the team shape or game plan.
Especially during the game.
Bielik can play CM and CB Dijksteel can play CM | CB | RB Pratley can play CM | CB Sarr can play CB | LB
Definitely takes after Curbs in some ways does Lee, would also say his approach to players not putting the effort in on the training ground (Fosu) is the sort of attribute Curbs had himself

A player is normally selected on his specialist position - after all, he's trained all his career in a specialist position and proved that's where he's played best.
A few exceptions to the rule, of course.
Dickie Dijksteel always regarded himself as DM, but his last couple of managers thought different and saw potential with his attributes as a RB. It's been a bit of a learning curve for him but now I regard him as fairly accomplished as RB.
Jordan Cousins can tell a similar story - always a defender coming through the youth and England ranks. Powell saw that his attributes could be used to great advantage to provide something missing in his 1st team. And so it proved.
Beilik came packaged with the ability to already play either CB or DM. Interestingly in my IMO, the team invariably played better with Beilik at DM, because he was so much more influential further up the pitch.
Incidentally players like Sarr may be able to occasionally fill in at LB, but everybody can see that's not where he plays best. And Pratley filled in at CB a couple of times early in the season, but we haven't seen him there since.
That's not what I would really think of as versatility ..... but rather if you think of Steve Gritt and Steve Brown, players who could switch positions very effectively and even be picked there on merit rather than emergency.
Wibble. Wibble. I'll spare you any more ramblings while I put the kettle on.

I'd be happy to sign him if his demands are sensible, but not if he would end up as one of our highest earners as he's not that good

Wonder if he’ll go to Fulham?
And I say that as a Cousins fan!
