Naby discourse is always entertaining. Because of his bad start, not stopping a goal against Millwall once and generally shitting himself in big matches he's remembered more harshly than he probably should be. That leads some to overrate his contribution in response, which then leads the people who didn't rate him to talk him down even more until there's two very polarised views on him. The reality is he wasn't that bad or that good. He was sometimes very good with the ball - the free kick against Wimbledon, the assist against Forest - and sometimes very bad at defending. He got too nervy in big matches - missed his pen against Doncaster, was a general liability in the PO final even ignoring the own goal - and just tended to provide a varied service. It was never that good or that bad though. He seems nice.
Was there ever really any doubt that he'd get a championship deal given he played for a play off side last year?
Reading are a Championship team under a transfer embargo meaning they can only bring in freebies and loans they don't pay a loan fee for. They paid their players late in April and are 3rd favourites for relegation. Joining them does not suggest he had a lot of Championship interest.

More than any of our current players or recently left players though right?!

Can only offer one year deals too, so no security. Agree it’s fair to assume he didn’t many offers on the table as Reading is unlikely to be a lucrative one

Washington has probably got a better gig, that’s about it.

Sarr has the same amount of goals as Washington this season.
We really are a sad bunch. Celebrating a winner by an ex player for a team no one outside of Berkshire gives a shit about against a side we never fucking beat.
I don't care if he scores a winning goal for Reading the next ten times they play millwall. I still can't forget the last minute goal we conceded at the Den because of him

Bless his cotton socks !
Naby scores the winner on his debut for Reading at Millwall.
It's a cruel game.

Llera scored a winner for the Massives a few seasons ago.
