The club has had email addresses for years, has ANYONE recieved a reply yet? No. Probably dead under the weight of daft comments (look at the Facebook page for an idea). It will soon work.
Who are these members of staff? The bew comms person? Yeah, "that statement" shows real understanding..... The statement was apparently straight from Roland. Nothing to do with her. I suspect they are as angry as the fans about that.
Target20k, come on, crowds are dropping faster than a lead balloon. The Target20k collective are a group of fans that are at least trying to do something constructive as opposed to destructive. It's not their fault the club is in the state it is - they are just trying to do the best for our club.
We might appear to be doing better, its not hard when you're following a bloke from a regional league ffs. But the fact is we are playing to a formation which seems to be working and Riga has been able to put players into it that he has chosen.
None of this stuff would be needed if things had been done correctly first time round. We agree on this one :-)
possibly more so that his job has got a fecking load more difficult re the protests and maybe now not worth the wedge he was getting and or the whole thing putting him in a shit position
I don't think JL has any problem with the protests or the protestors. I had a meeting with him on behalf of CARD and he didn't express any such concerns to me. It was clear then that he might resign however.
possibly more so that his job has got a fecking load more difficult re the protests and maybe now not worth the wedge he was getting and or the whole thing putting him in a shit position
I met John Little at a seminar held at The Valley a few years ago for those responsible for stadium management, which included Health and Safety legislation and the licensing of match day stewards etc. In my opinion, he will be a great loss to the Club - you don't replace someone with his experience overnight. I wish him well.
Apart from the training ground, which imo, is the most important part of RDs player farm puzzle, what other positive things are happening at the club? I honestly can't think of anything.
1. The new email address - which I am 100% convinced will have been bombarded with the baboons from Facebook.
2. New members of the senior management team who "get" the fans and understand our frustrations and want to improve things.
3. The Target20k collective who are a great opportunity for fans to liaise with the club - but who again are being tarred with the brush of being in cahoots with the club.
4. The fact we have a manager who appears to be having some success at the moment (albeit too late IMO) but who is calling the shots more on recruitment.
1. The email address may have been bombarded since it was set up but that's not people emailing it for the sake of it. That is loyal supporters who have had legitimate concerns for the last 2 years but have yet to get a significant response from the club about said concerns. Time will only tell whether this email address will prove to be the answer but as of yet I don't see how you can claim it is a success.
2. Want to improve things is again all talk at the minute. Things have not improved.
3. Even the Target20k group have come out this morning and have said that they are not supportive of the board. Those are the people who have given the regime the most time and it has now got to the stage where even they are reconsidering.
4. Your albeit too late statement says it all. We are as good as gone. He may be calling more of the shots on recruitment but it's too little too late. Out of all available candidates I do not believe we have chosen the best one. There's a reason that Riga was chosen over Warnock etc. and that's not because he's a footballing mastermind.
possibly more so that his job has got a fecking load more difficult re the protests and maybe now not worth the wedge he was getting and or the whole thing putting him in a shit position
Isn't that completely different to being bullied out though? As has been insinuated.
That's what I am talking about....there's a tidbit of information that many people will construe in a different way and by the time it's gone through a few Chinese whispers it's completely distorted.
If the aim is to spell things out in Black and White then do just that - not be cryptic

We wouldn't have to construe things in different ways if any of us had any idea what the hell is going on at the club right now.
possibly more so that his job has got a fecking load more difficult re the protests and maybe now not worth the wedge he was getting and or the whole thing putting him in a shit position

The idea of John Little being bullied by Tony Keohane is quite comical. Complaints about bullying have come from other areas inside the club in respect of more junior people. They have come from multiple directions and been verified by several sources. However, if management demonstrates limited understanding of how to manage then it's understandable if more competent people decide to walk away.
I find Swisdom's comments that "The new email address - which I am 100% convinced will have been bombarded with the baboons from Facebook" quite offensive, and very 'Duchateletesque'.

Plus it's all just lip service.
A PR person brought in to try and spin the lunacy who appears to have been overriden and therefore redundant within a month.
A yes man network manager who talks a good game, getting some results but is ni way qualified to move this club forward hence why he was released last time and brought in by proxy this time to oversee our relegation without kicking up a fuss or slating the owner who's sacked him once or twice before.
A recruitment policy that is still so wide of the mark It ensures failure.
A couple of pawns being used as a target group to fill the valley whilst completely ignoring the massive elephant in the room as to why its emptying further by the season.
And an albeit excellent training facility that will be used to churn out the premier league stars for other clubs whilst we languish in the doldrums.
Yeah sounds like we're gearing up to be the Barcelona of South East London.
Forgive me if I don't find it easy to praise these ***** for anything as the damage and destruction they are doing to our club far overshadows any bloody 3g training pitches and updated bloody email addresses.

The email address
Swisdom, the club made amendments to the club charter when they set up the new email address. Amendments that meant that every email would be acknowledged (i.e done automatically) but not every email would be responded too (there have been 0 replies that we know of. 0.).
It's fairly clear that the club did this specifically to discourage fans from emailing members of staff directly - ala Katrien. Don't you think it's a bit poor that the situation got that bad? Perhaps it's also disappointing that the club deem it a worthy response to the communications issues in the first place? "Here, have an in-personal mailbox because we don't want you wasting the inbox of an actual employee."
Members of staff
Which members? Tony? Mandy? Oh, Mel.
We're meant to be celebrating that fact we can relate to one member of staff, and that she actually maybe fairly decent at her job?
Once again, if that's not a bit of damning inditement of the situation then I actually don't know what is. Every member of staff at the club should be qualified for the role assigned to them, and capable of carrying out their relevant duties. Unfortunately this genuinely doesn't appear to be the case.
Target 20K
I agree completely that it's good to see there's a group of fans who are trying to do something positive. That's great... but now even they are beginning to distance themselves from the regime.
These fans who - as you correctly point out - are trying to do their best in a very difficult situation, today had to issue a statement to clarify that they were disappointed with Roland's recent statement and don't wish to be associated with it. Arguably those who are trying to proactively help by volunteering their own time are now being put in conflicting situations.
The Manager
Once again, it's hard to disagree with you there - and it is a positive.
Riga is a decent manager who seems to have more quality about him than the others, I could be pedantic and argue that his appointment has been too late (by 18 months) and that it's too late, but I wont; purely because the club have actually managed to correct a wrong in the re-appointment of Riga.
Even if that's because Katrien had to put her foot down and prevent Roland from appointing an unknown, and even if we were told a few days prior to his appointment that we were looking at British managers. Riga is a good guy, and the only one of the Belgian managers that I've felt any form of connection with.
Other stuff
I can genuinely appreciate your point of view though. The doom and gloom is utterly shit right now, and nothing seems to be going to plan according to many. Browsing this forum isn't good for the mood or the blood pressure at the moment!
Unfortunately though, a lot of it is not only based upon the frustration of 2 years of accumulated mistakes - it's out of love and passion for the club. The very same reasons the T20K group are acting.
It's not all bad, but it is pretty bad. Yeah the future could be bright with the improved training resources, and if Riga is backed then he may be able to field quite a competitive team. Unfortunately that doesn't seem to outweigh just how shitty things feel about the place at the moment.
We're all fans, and hopefully we can all share a drink and celebrate hopes for a better tomorrow one day. For a lot of people - and I include myself in that - it's difficult to envision a better tomorrow with the current regime in place.

Hasn't Airman Brown spelt it out that the problem is Tony Cajones.
As for the examples you gave above.
The Fans@ email is a good idea and well done Mel Baroni for setting that up. Mel has a difficult job but she's having a go. She should be a real asset to the club if she's allowed to do her job. Her statement on Monday and then Roland' Rant on Tuesday says that that may not be the case. But again it took over two years to fill her post. That's not her fault but says a lot about the management above her.
Target 20K was something that existed for years before Katrien even knew there was a club called Charlton Athletic. Re-establishing it was one of the aims of the Spell it Out in Black and White Campaign so I'm glad it happened. But typical of Tony Cajones he made sure that no one who had been involved in business development or building support was allowed near it so weakening it from the very start. As ever with Tony and Katrien when they do have good idea it is undone by poor execution.
As for Riga turning things around? Really? How is it a good thing that they go thru three managers to find the manager they let go 18 months before. Good would have been keeping him in the first place not turning to him only when just about every other (network) option was used up.
I don't know or know of this man but good luck to him and hope whatever he has planned works out for him. The question I would ask; at the age of 55 why is he leaving after 18 years. At that age most people tuff things out to the end. Its not a non story, its another miserable episode at CAFC.
@Swisdom most of what you posted is opinion, so there's little point going over it, as we are unlikely to agree.
However:
The club has had email addresses for years, has ANYONE recieved a reply yet? No. Probably dead under the weight of daft comments (look at the Facebook page for an idea). It will soon work.
Rather than insult fellow fans, is it not possible to imagine it's two years of unanswered emails? If will work soon, why has the previous address not worked since they arrived?
I find Swisdom's comments that "The new email address - which I am 100% convinced will have been bombarded with the baboons from Facebook" quite offensive, and very 'Duchateletesque'.
You're obviously not reading it then. In fact maybe you are because my comment is derogatory against baboons in some cases.
It's vicious and disgusting a lot of the time - throw in a few self-confessed trolls and WUMs and it's a lovely place to be...

I honestly don't know what John would answer to your question, charltonkeston but I would assume that he's had enough of the manner in which genuine, hard working employees at our club are currently being treated/mismanaged.
Over the past 18 years, he will have worked under various owners and I'd hazard a guess that the current one has ensured that he cherishes the first 16 years with our club but wishes the last 2 were merely a bad dream.
I wonder when a former employee will decide it's time to "kiss & tell" although I'm guessing that a 5000 page dossier akin to the Official Secrets' Act has to be signed as they exit the building...
Good luck, John, whatever you decide to do in the future. You've served your time well under this despicable regime & deserve SO much more from them.

I assume that was meant in humour, mate. I wouldn't take it too seriously - even if it was intended that way!
The only thing in this whole situation that is a "100% nailed-on fact" is that everyone has two things in common: an opinion, and a genuine passion for the club. That's why we all post here.
Obviously with the way things have been going of late those passions boil over. Some vent by running on to the pitch and yelling at a player. Others vent by writing and generating other forms of media - like the excellent photoshops and videos we've been seeing. Meanwhile, some even vent by (like me) writing overly long posts on a forum.
Despite all of these different actions though, all of those people are - peculiarly - doing it for the same reason as one another. That's something that we'd all do well to remember at times; fighting in amongst each-other isn't good - it's actually a waste of a very good community.
John is a top bloke, I dated one of his daughters for Four years. A true gent and I know my Dad really appreciated him on a matchday, huge loss for the club. I can now see it won't be long before my Dad follows him out as well. Club is completely unrecognisable two years on from this shower taking over.

But if he wants to leave then why do we need to dissect it?
Maybe - after 18 years he feels hes had enough.
Maybe we will recruit someone "cheap and with someone with a fraction of skills, knowledge and experience." but then that person has to gain them. Or maybe John has a 2nd in command who is capable of stepping up.
I can only assume there is more to it than the complete non-story on the link above - because it's just that. A non story.
Perhaps a non-story in isolation. Bit of a coincidence that so many well-respected, long-serving members of staff have decided they've "had enough" since Mad Roland and the Laughing Cow turned up,
What a great name for Pinocchio. The original French - La vache qui rit - has a certain ring to it, too.

Holy shit, not seen you post for ages mate, hows life?
Of course he can be replaced, however as someone who still works in the business I can assure you he is massively well respected within the industry. His knowledge, particularly of The Valley and CAFC supporters is vast - trust me he will be very difficult to replace adequately.
Over many years John and his team have delivered a fantastic service to CAFC, I am sorry to hear that he has resigned, the club will be a poorer place without him.
I know that lol
I do think people are reading into some of the stories coming out of the club a little bit too much.
I'm not having a dig at John, I once knew him quite well, but I do think that this is a non story. He's working till the end of the season, so I can't see that he was pushed, or that he's jumped for any other reason than 18 years is enough.
Is this his full time job? Or is he still in the fire service?
I know him quite well now and you're mistaken. He's seeing the season out because he's a professional, unlike the people above him.
Here we go again.....If there's more to it why don't people just fucking say it.
I think I speak for many when I say I have had enough of "I know something you don't know"
If you look at the post above yours, you'll see that Airman did say it.
I find Swisdom's comments that "The new email address - which I am 100% convinced will have been bombarded with the baboons from Facebook" quite offensive, and very 'Duchateletesque'.

Couldn't have put it better myself. Well I could. No I couldn't....oh bollocks - do you want a fight?

Totally agree re John - top class safety officer and genuinely nice guy, it had occurred to me as to how your Dad would react to Johns departure. Knowing your Dad I would imagine he is finding it massively frustrating at the moment, if and when he departs it will leave yet another massive hole in the clubs experience and knowledge base.

Those of us who are protesting against the regime are doing something positive, too. We are trying to bring about a change of ownership. This would, I think we can all agree, call time on KM's "career" as CEO and would probably bring about a change of COO, too.

Knowing your Dad I would imagine he is finding it massively frustrating at the moment, if and when he departs it will leave yet another massive hole in the clubs experience and knowledge base.
