Smiffy, come back tomorrow. Not the place to be getting into abusive rucks after a few beers.
All others, tidy it up please. Some really poor posting in this thread. If a thread is not for you then please just stay away from it. No one should be abused for posting their non-abusive thoughts on an open forum.
I'm very disappointed by some of the "respected" posters' comments on here today. Shame on you.
.... I sign & share umpteen petitions each week in an effort to bring Government attention ( both here and overseas) to animal cruelty in our world.
I also donate monthly to the RSPCA & Dogs' Trust and support Battersea Cats & Dogs Home, SPANA ( yes, horses' welfare) and adopt a donkey from the Sanctuary in Sidmouth each year for our grandkids.
........
Heartless bastard though I apparently am, I too sign all of those petitons, support numerous animal charities, at home and abroad, and have 2 rescue dogs as loved members of our family. I respectfully suggest you refrain from being judgmental and condescending about a subject and other posters you know nothing about Fanny.
........ Please tell me where I have been judgemental or professed to know it all about the given subject or the posters themselves ....". I have my view, you have yours and never the twain shall meet. ..........
I suggest you re-read your first post Fanny. It reeks of judgmentalism. You know absolutely nothing about the totality of my views. Yet you presume to set yourself as holier than all of us when it comes to supporting animal welfare and being opposed to animal abuse because we don't share your "abhorrence of the famous race" . Now that's patronising.
OK. I'm just back from QPR where I have been supporting my team .
After a round journey of 6 hours and a heartbreaking last minute defeat , I really don't feel like defending myself any further. I'm done today.
But I apologise if I have been judgemental or patronising - that really was not my aim.
And as for being holier than thou when it comes to supporting animal welfare & being opposed to animal abuse, my words were purely to show how passionately I feel about the subject....and it's great to hear others agreeing.
When I support my team, my heart rules my head- I make no apologies for that. And so it is where animal welfare is concerned.
For me, sport is head to head competition - man/team versus man/team, all who are fully aware of the dangers & consent to compete accordingly.....that's my view which although you may not agree, I'd like to think you wouldn't ridicule or verbally abuse me for holding. As I pointed out earlier, I thought it was an unwritten rule that Lifers respect each others' opinions.
I think it best to leave it there, at least until next April and although we agree to disagree, it's clear that we all rejoice in the fact there were no fatalities this time.
Bar this post, it would be great if this thread closed now with the last contribution being Fanny's class comments. I apologise to you Fanny for getting shirty. It was unwarranted. All the best.

Peace, brothers & sisters.
