Indeed. I think that looks good!0

Coincidentally I drove past it early this morning before 7am, two trustafarian types over the road staring at the pub with rucksacks etc with them, it’s a prime site for a squat, and the two I saw were prime candidates to do so IMO0

Cafc could save that gaff on its own if we weren’t so utterly awful
the valley, the pickwick, the anti, horse and groom, con club, lib club and the white swan all seemingly thriving (relatively) but then lost since the prem days5 -

I doubt 25 good days a year would be enough whatever division we were in.2 -

Away from matchdays the Swan suffered a bit from some poor management in its later years - the food offer (crucial to survival) was inconsistent, later on the ales weren't all that great (particularly noticeable after the River Ale House opened, and that would have drained off a bit of trade too). It'll never be a goldmine - a pub surrounded by parks and council estates won't be - but done right there's still potential, as the revival of the Lord Herbert in Plumstead shows.
Prizing it from Mendoza's hands will be tough, but they haven't helped themselves by wilfully neglecting the place and allowing organised crime to take place there.2 - Sponsored links:

I’d urge anyone to submit a representation to the planning inspector if you’d prefer the pub over a Tesco Express and a few flats. The link is

Well done to all of you that put in an objection. Mendoza’s application to turn the pub in to a Tesco has been rejected.

I don’t know what future lies ahead for it, it is in such bad state, but well done to the team behind keeping up the fight.Oh and well done Greenwich council. I also note that permission to build the house in the back garden has now lapsed which is another bit of good news.6 -
Hope Mendoza loses a fortune over this, greedy bastards.3

Excellent news, hopefully we’ll get a decent pub back there one day8

"Now White Swan Music & Arts, which wants to save the pub and ensure it helps revive Charlton Village’s local economy, is fundraising to pay for campaign materials and professional help. It is holding a pub quiz on Wednesday March 12 at 7.30pm at the Green Goddess pub in Blackheath. Entry is £5 per person. "
The Green Goddess is the new micro-pub opposite the Royal Standard.1 -
Was easily my favourite pub around the ground, a shame it is no longer with us. Fingers crossed for a reopening in the future!4
