Another cracking second half, but that Polish no 7 must feel awful.
It's not what NI want but I hope Poland can still nick it0 -
Germany having the youngest squad in the tournament is a little surprising. That doesn't bode well for other nations in future years.1

we did but the Jerrys saw that and wanted to one up us.ForeverAddickted said:

one of theirs was injured in the last warm up so they put in a teenager which brought down their average.0 -
In the world cup South Korea always have the Youngest squadForeverAddickted said:

Their first choice players aren't especially young though,RedPanda said:Germany having the youngest squad in the tournament is a little surprising. That doesn't bode well for other nations in future years.

not sure if a draw is really a good result for northern Ireland. think Poland will beat Ukraine and Germany will beat NIR. leaves them in third with three points.0
-
Was at the game today. Ireland played a lot better and I was actually suprised at how poor Ukraine were considering I thought they played well first half against the Germans . Had an unreal experience so far, with trips to England/Slovakia and Ireland/Italy to come next week7

I stand corrected then!1StevieG said:
Ozil got 19 assists for the gooners last season. The most by any PL player in 2015/16 season.LenGlover said:The Ozil that plays for Germany is so much better than the Arsenal one.
Rather like the Danish Rommedahl v the Charlton one.
I certainly don't profess to be an expert on the Prem given that Match of the Day is pretty much all I see of it these days. I guess that he has just had off days when I've seen him to give me that impression.0 - Sponsored links:

I had the pleasure of seeing him twice last season. Yes he can look a bit lazy at times but the fella put a shift in when I saw him.LenGlover said:

I doubt the Irish would have imagined coming any better than 3rd in such a group. It now seems that they have to beat Germany to definitely progress, which while unlikely isn't impossible the way Germany played tonight (which slightly puts into perspective England's friendly win over them)Karim_myBagheri said:not sure if a draw is really a good result for northern Ireland. think Poland will beat Ukraine and Germany will beat NIR. leaves them in third with three points.

Know I moaned about their approach to the Poland game yet reckon Ireland should play against the Germans like that or how Iceland approached Portugal.
Just defend and counter attack if they can... a heavy loss will really risk their third place spot whilst a minimal loss might not.
Slovakia also have three points so see them ending on that amount so that leaves one more team that N.Ireland need to "finish above"1 -
Germany looked toothless! 3 points might get a team through - only two third place teams will miss out! Tight but possible - will need a couple of draws in key matches!0
-
Really nice touch from the French last night.5

We were at NI match - brilliant fun all round, though "hail stopped play" rather surreal. Great atmosphere from both sets of fans and excellent performance by the Boys in Green and White. Restored my faith somewhat after the trauma in Marseille.1

So "if" we win the group, how does the 3rd place team we would play get selected? Is it drawn out of a hat?0
-
It depends on which four third placed teams qualify - ie which groups they qualify from. For example, if the third placed teams from groups A, B, C and D all qualify, it'll be the team from Group D (Spain/Croatia/Czech Rep/Turkey).moutuakilla said:So "if" we win the group, how does the 3rd place team we would play get selected? It will most likely be either the team from Group A (France's group) or Group D (Spain's group). If neither of them qualify, then it'll be the team from Germany's group0 -

Going by the above, we'll either face one of the following:
- Group A ... Romania
- Group C ... Northern Ireland
- Group D ... Czech Republic
If the Group Stages were immediately finished we'd face Northern Ireland because Romania and Czech Republic are currently the two third placed teams who'd be eliminated, yet if the third place team from all three of those groups make it through we'd then face the Czechs.
As @IA says... Its very unlikely we'll get the team that finishes Third in Group C because there is only one potential possibility that sees us ending up with them, whilst there are equally seven chances we'll face either Group A or Group D0 -
Not according to my sauces.... if the 3rd place teams in A/C/D finish with the same points then we will play the highest RANKED team - currently, NI are above both Croatia AND Czech Republic - however, my sauce has been known to be wrong (many times) in the pastForeverAddickted said:

Doesnt look like it matters where the 3rd placed teams rank against each other... It appears as though the only point of putting them into a table is so that the bottom two sides can be eliminated, once done the whole table format is scraped.The_President said:

I've also checked the UEFA Regulations (17.03) and there is no mention made by your Tomato Sauce

Will leave them on three points and a Goal Difference of -4... Northern Ireland will then have to lose 5-0 to Germany be left with a worse Goal Difference (God knows what happens if those two are left on the same points and the same Goal Difference)
i.e. You wont be able to separate the two sides on their Head2Head record as they wont have played each other0 -
Ray Wilkins on Sky Sports has just come up with a brilliant way for us to win this tournament. Hart in goal and the same back four as yesterday with Dier holding, Rooney and Ali playing behind Sturidge and Lalana wide and Vardy and Kane up top through the middle.
Whisper it quietly though. We don't want the opposition catching on to us playing 12.
Really can't understand why Ray didn't have more success as a manager.7 -
Bit of a different Quiz... Got 9/10

It will then go to Fair Play conduct. If that doesn't split the teams, then it'll be position in the UEFA national team coefficient.ForeverAddickted said:

I think one of the worst third placed teams will be from Group E (Italy's group)
Its a difficult one as from
- Group A ... both Romania and Albania have shown they can win
- Group B ... Slovakia have won but their hardest game has been left till last, whilst Wales shouldnt drop down
- Group C ... Northern Ireland you'd expect to exit seeing they've got Germany but their 2-0 win yesterday helped
- Group D ... Neither Czech Republic / Turkey have got a result yet so may need that match to pick who gets third
- Group E ... As you say @IA, Ireland and Sweden have now played their easiest fixture
- Group F ... Its wide open, anything can happen there, Austria almost need to get a result against Iceland and hope they beat Hungary0 -
One possible saving grace for ROI is if Italy have the group won before their last match1

Anyone who gets to 4-points in 3rd is through now as well.IA said:One possible saving grace for ROI is if Italy have the group won before their last match

So a team can go through by the virtue that they have fewer yellow cards... wow0
