Very poor game. Finished one all. Will do a summary later.

Our U23s are in action against @ColU_Official at Sparrows Lane this afternoon. Team news is in...

XI | Phillips, Dempsey, Yao, Morgan, Cummings, Blumberg, Trialist, Umerah, Yamfam, Doughty, Trialist.

SUBS | Beeney, Lapslie, Trialist, Trialist, Sarmiento. #cafc

Sounds like we're planning for next season with four trialists in the squad.

Are you talking to yourself dick?

I don't know what happened there. 1-1 as bolloxbolder said, very poor. Josh Umerah scored from the penalty spot.

Surprised Lapslie is only on the bench

Is he being let go in the summer, perhaps?

Sane, De Bruyne, Sterling and Silva

After last night they've had enough of Pep and want to play for Lee Bowyer instead

The match was played on the top pitch at Sparrows Lane, next to the pavilion. Spectators had to endure waterlogged conditions as the drainage at the training ground shows no sign of improving.

The pitch was bumpy and a scrappy game ensued. In the first half the increasingly impressive Albie Morgan ran the game from his holding midfield position. He provided the one moment of pure class in the second half and indeed the match with an instant 30 yard clipped shot which beat the keeper all ends up, but hit the bar. It appeared that in the second half he was asked to play further forward. This resulted in Colchester having the better of the second half and they probably deserved to win. I felt their second disallowed offside goal was an extremely harsh decision.

Umerah battled gamely up front where he was often isolated against two tough and tall centre backs. He chased a through ball, which he reached before the keeper just inside the box and was upended for his trouble for a definite penalty. He took it and scored with a bullet shot to the top left of the goal. I would not attach any blame to Cummings for their own goal, as he sought to defend a hard and low cross from the right. Indeed he played well throughout and nearly attoned with a header that cannoned off the bar.

Two trialists started. A well tanned blonde haired centre half who I think was called George or John (my hearing is not the best). He was steady, but on first viewing no better than what we already have. The second was a forward called Junior. He showed some nice touches, trickery in possession and good control. He was replaced by a similarly lightweight trialist who did nothing to impress.

Jackson stood on the supporters viewing side. Did not see any scouts that I recognised. The team is missing key players like Dijksteel, Hanlan, Charles Cook and Maloney. Even if they win their remaining 3 games, it may not be enough to get 2nd place and entry into the play offs which has been the norm in previous years.

Also at the game yesterday,as well as standing in a swamp i noticed a gaping hole in the pavillion roof with numerous tiles sliding towards the gutters.

Good goal from Yamfam separates the two teams.

Bolton look a decent team. It will be a tough second half.

58' GOAL! The Addicks double the lead through Umerah. Doughty's corner is met by the striker's cushioned finish on the volley and it's 2-0 Charlton! #cafc

See, someone knows how to coach corners

I don't know who the trialists were, but they didn't get on. Blumberg and Cummings were very solid at centre half. Their goalkeeper made three or four good saves to keep the score down. We moved the ball very quickly and well in the second half. We played with three at the back and it suited us. I haven't see much of Ben Dempsey but he sat in front of the defence and broke up play well. He also took two nasty tackles in the second half. Morgan kicked one of theirs which caused a mini scuffle.

With Ipswich messing up we will make the play offs if we can win our last 2 games. Similar scenario for the under 18s too.

Brum away Monday and then Sheffield United home following Monday for Under 23's.

We played at Huddersfield this morning and then away to Colchester next Saturday for the Under 18's.

Can't get the Huddersfield result anywhere. Anyone know?
