''Support the team not the regime''

  • If you intend to support this season by attending away games only, then it sounds like there's a brilliant & cheap way to do so on the horizon....

Watch out for news of a new coach service to be announced tomorrow, starting with the Fleetwood trip at a whopping £8 cheaper than Valley Away !!! ( if the tom toms heard tonight are correct)

What a fantastic way to support the team, NOT the regime !!

Perhaps between Clive, Rock Spectacle and myself we could start running trains.

Are you any good in central midfield ?

Very sharp, I had to look twice at that.

Do people on here enjoy chatting shit?
I see this spouted on almost every regime related thread but there have already been 2 or 3 witch hunt threads about Slades and we haven't even had a home game yet!
We are playing our part in sending our team down the leagues. Yes we want the regime gone, but 2 official games into the season and we are all slating the team and manager already.

Be happy we have some quality players and manager with experience in the English game and at this level.
KM already thinks we are stupid, why prove her right?

And as Slade mentioned, lots behind the scenes were wrong when he arrived, he's having to fix that and get a strong team together, give the guy a break. We all say we need stability and stop changing managers every 5 months but the same people saying this already dislike Slade and thinks he should resign.

    Laughable really

You say "we are all slating the team and manager" @joshshrewcafc so that must include you?

Or do you mean SOME people.

Fans don't send teams done, poor owners, poor managers and poor players do that or do you still believe that if we all sing that we'll win. If so Father Christmas has a present for you.
Its actually a psychologically proven fact that increased support improves a teams performance. So if we can help play a part, even if small, we should.

It's a load of BS. How has a team ever won away from home ?
Why has everyone decided that I said support, and support alone, determines the results of games?

    Source for that?
You saw how we capitulated at The Valley when the protests moved inside the ground last seaso... oh shit, no - those were rare victories. Or about the Sheffield Wednesday match where the first pre-match protest happened.. oh fuck, we also won that, despite having Karel Bloody Fraeye in charge.

FFS, why do people always trot out the same nonsense about the protests harming the team on the pitch? We've got results that show otherwise. We've even got players who have said that the protests haven't hindered their efforts on the pitch.

If people genuinely think a few beachballs and chants are going to make the team lose, then I'd love to know the psychological effects of working in a toxic environment rife with mismanagement and ineptitude.
Being under pressure (and abuse) doesn't make things easier does it? It doesn't gaurantee failing but doesn't exactly promote success does it?
    Don't be so single minded.

    Where's your evidence for this @JoshrewCAFC ?

If there's one thing I think we need to hear more of, it's definitely "support the team, not the regime". Haven't read it anywhere for at at least two seconds.

Arsenal fans were holding up banners with that phrase on them last Saturday.

Wish I thought of doing that last year.

  • Thing is if protesting doesn't affect the players or the outcome why are card not doing protests in the ground for August.

Because some fans think they do impact the players? We don't need a civil war.

So you're equating the protests with abuse aimed at the players?

At the end of the day, I've told you what the players have said themselves and pointed to the situations when CARD were protesting at their most active.. situations which saw us win too.

I dont think I'm the one being single minded.

If you believe very little abuse has been aimed at players then you very delusional.
  • i would love to see some research that says boycotting games improves team performance

If you believe very little abuse has been aimed at players then you very delusional.
I see you've continued to go along the abuse lines, and for the SECOND time neglected the facts with regards to results and player interviews.

As you're so keen on this abuse topic though, consider these questions:

Compared to previous relegation seasons, where the team have also failed to that extent, do you believe there was any additional abuse directed at the players?

Do you think this supposed abuse was anything to do with the protests or more an artrfact of the mood that's taken over during the Duchâtelet era combined with some dire performances?

Any player abuse, if there was any, has sod all to do with the protests and thus the "support the team, not the regime" mantra.
  • Last season fox got a decent amount of abuse and Makienok got booed onto the pitch and abuse on it, seem to recall some a use for Pope, didn't agree with any of this and still don't. Some general abuse after woeful disinterested performances I think is fair enough.

None of the abuse was part of the protests or organised, but just natural effects of what some fans saw in the players.

My recollection from last season was most players saying that the atmosphere during protests buoyed them or didn't affect them.

That isn't what Henderson told us at the POTY dinner...
  • Wasn't it?

Oh, I thought I had heard it from several players there but admittedly didn't speak to Henderson.

    What did he say?

Oh, I thought I had heard it from several players there but admittedly didn't speak to Henderson.

He said he couldn't understand it. And that he didn't like the hostile atmosphere when he was keeping in front of the covered end.

Funny that as he said he fully understood why we were protesting at Bromley, knew it wasn't aimed at the players too. He did say targeting individual players wasn't helpful but I think most of us agree with that and that that was nothing to do with the protests.
So, are you calling me a liar?

Because that is EXACTLY what he said to the people (who were listening) at the POTY dinner.

Maybe he changed his mind between the 2 events? Possibly due to the protests had been ramped up between your meeting and the POTY dinner...

    Calm down.

Quite possibly he changed his mind although I seem to remember it was Pope who played in front of those "hostile" crowds at the end of the season.
