The Excalibur next door to New York New York is one of the only places on the strip that still do $5 tables for Roulette and Craps most other casinos are $15.
There is an outlet mall either end of the strip and you can get some really good bargains.
As previously said Old Town (Freemont Street) is well worth a visit and if you are really adventurous the Stratosphere rides are excellent and I did the Skyfall at the Stratosphere a couple of years ago which certainly gets the backside moving
I have been the last 4 years and never had a bad one, so just go and enjoy.
Second the stratosphere rides ! Scariest ride iv ever been on. Agree North outlet is good, some real value to be had, on items that would cheaper in the USA anyway. Be selective on hotel buffets, some are fantastic value, others are poor. Spend an afternoon in the sports book (betting shop). In bigger hotels they have 50 screens showing, greyhounds, horses, harness racing from all over the US. Weird to see a race in the Florida sun, followed by, another in snow from somewhere in the north east. Plus, girls will feed you free beer.
The bus service is cheap and frequent. Fremont st is great to visit and offers good value for money. Before I went always told Vegas is great value , far from it I spent a fortune with out gambling. I did have a little flutter just so I could experience what Vegas is famous for. The helicopter ride and stay on a working ranch was the highlight of the trip for me.
Go on the roller coaster at New York, white knuckle stuff
The rides at the top of the Stratosphere are good too...
All of them leave you hanging out past the edge right at the top of the tower and one of the rides will drop without warning for a brief second, god its the closest I've ever come to shitting myself as a grown man!!
If you want something away from the usual party's and stuff the titanic museum is good it's based in the Luxor, Gordon Ramsey's steak restaurant in ceasers is brilliant. As most people have said you can do anything you want there and is so much to do, great city just take lots of money as it isn't cheap.
Personally I preferred the Hoover Damn to the Gran Canyon.
That's interesting but obviously subjective. I was out there in 2008 and did Vegas, Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon. Hoover just didn't do it for me at all. Okay, it's enormous, but just didn't float my boat but can understand why people like it. As for the Grand Canyon. Did a 2 day hike through Rider Canyon down to the banks of the Colorado and camped out overnight on a natural beach on the river's edge. Hiked back the next day. It was an incredible experience but obviously we had the time (and energy) to do it as a small military group. Top of my list is to do a two week rafting holiday along the Colorado.
I found the Gran Canyon boring, it's just a big hole in the ground unlike the giant human engineering feat of the Hover Dam! All subjective of course.
If, like me, you're a fan of microbreweries and brewpubs, try Main Street Brewery and Banger Brewery, both downtown, and I highly recommend probably the best beer deal in town, with a real local atmosphere, at the Ellis Island Brewery; a bit isolated, north of the Linq so check it out on a map. Dollar beers and cheap snacks during NFL games, very cheap at other times as well. Sin City Brewery has a few outlets including Planet Hollywood and The Venetian.
Literally got back a couple of hours ago.... @JohnBoyUK 's tips are great... I liked the Neon Boneyard (where all the old neon signs go to die)....hour long tour for $20..pre-book... Best b'fast buffet was - for my money - at the Wicked Spoon at the Cosmopolitan... Go and see a show...doesn't matter who/what...I ended up at Lionel Richie with my 50 year old Canadian mate and despite never owning any record like that (through the 80s I was a goth and my music tastes have remained 'alternative' ever since), it was excellent fun and I'm pleased I did it (I saw the Specials the night before at the House of blues, who were awesome). If you like beer, then you need to do a bit of searching....main hotel staples are the likes of Corona, Dos Equis etc (yuck..).. Banger Brewery on Freemont is pretty good, Taneya Creek Brewery/tap room was far and away the best...bit out of the way just north of Freemont st but about $5 and 5 mins in an uber from Banger Brewery... Bar with 148 beers on tap right near the big wheel (can't remember the name).. Big country and western concert going on this weekend (just finished)....daisy duke's and cowboy boots...oh my.... Mixed up with a Bad Boy Records reunion tour....so a very eclectic mix on the strip... This was my 4th visit and I'm yet to actually do any gambling... The one thing I won't be doing again if I ever go back will be paying a small fortune to go in to a club...finally realised I am too old for that sh!t when everyone around me was singing a song I didn't know even was a song (it just sounded like a drum beat) and I didn't recognise that Calvin Harris was the man pressing all the buttons on the computer to make the noise ;-) Have an awesome time.
been twice, excellent tips by @JohnBoyUK stayed in wynn the 1st time and mgm grand the 2nd time, booked to go back next september already trying out the belaggio.
Stayed in the belagio twice lovely classy hotel you can upgrade to a fountain view room which I would recommend.

Bar near the big wheel with 148 beers is the Yard House.

Got a couple of nights at Grand Canyon before we get to Vegas so I'll let you know if I agree.
The Grand Canyon is truly stunning. Assuming you're on the south side, they have a free bus service along the rim so it's worth getting the bus out as far west as it goes and then walking back along the rim for the views and the condors. If you're not completely hungover, watching the sunrise is worth setting your alarm clock for. The food is OK at best and some, especially the fast food 'restaurant', is appalling. If you're feeling fit, walk down in to the canyon - just remember it will take about half as long again to get back up compared to going down so leave plenty of time and take water.
Finally, if you're out walking once the sun's gone down, look out for the elk!!
Lost count the amount of times I've done Vegas. Love the place, like the adults playground. Some of my tips:
- Shoot off some guns at The Gun Store. They literally have any weapon you can think of, and it's a lot of fun. You can shoot Hitler Targets, or Zombie Targets. Probably even let you shoot a Doucébag and KM target if you mail them a picture. You can even shoot off a 50cal Military Grade Sniper Rifle.
- Night helicopter tour over the strip, it's really something.
- Neon Sign Museum at night. All the old signs of Vegas Past and Present. Done it last time, not sure why I didn't do it before.
- Gangster Museum gives you a fun bit of history into Vegas
- Breakfast Buffet at Ceasers Palace. Something stupid like 1061 items to choose from. I didn't realise that it all constituted as breakfast
- Heart Attack Grill in Fremont Street. Get spanked by a waitress if you don't finish your meal! Or a midget!
- Zipline over Fremont Street
- Jump off The Stratosphere Hotel and do all the rides at the top (some scary shit)
Hell, there's more I can recommend. I would say if you were staying in California beforehand rent out a stupidly fast car and take a trip up Route 66 and see Bottle Tree Farm.
We stayed at the Cosmopolitan 2 years ago when my brother renewed his wedding vows and I can recommend. One of the few Hotels on the Strip with balconies. My nephew spent one or two nights on ours when pissed.
If you want to pamper yourself after all the adrenaline stuff above, go for a traditional shave here: theartofshaving.com/
I would recomend any of the Cirque du Soleil Shows.

I'm doing it at the moment with my son his 21st mate. Two three nighters in NYC and Vegas but with a five day desert tour in the middle (Zion, monument Valley and Grand Canyon. Fly home later today. It's been an absolute blast, helped in no small way by some excellent tips on this thread and the other one on NYC tips. We've crammed so much in. I arranged mine though Trailfinders. They were brilliant. Not the cheapest but every tip they gave me has turned out right. You could probably shop around for cheap flights etc if you want to do it all yourself. We've flown Virgin/Delta (same thing- they've got a partnership agreement) for the transatlantic stuff and United from NYC to Vegas. Location is important. We stayed in the affinia in Manhattan. Slightly overpriced for what it is but location in midtown is brilliant. We've seen the whole of manhattan and got to Brooklyn and we walked virtually everywhere. Vegas is a hoot. Depends on your tastes. We've really enjoyed it but three nights is enough. Biggest tip I'll give you - however much spending money you think you need. Double it!!!! Especially with this exchange rate. Any particular questions just pm me or put them on here. Cheers.

I have to say I hated the place but I'm glad I've been, if you get what I mean. Grand Canyon was fantastic but I drove across the Mojave Desert and on to Palm Springs which was really good.
