  • Looks as though Solari has been sacked @ Real Madrid

Some bloke called Zidane to replace him

probably on more money than he was on less than a year ago
  • Well that lasted long for Scholes

    Left Oldham today

"In the short period since I took on the role it unfortunately became clear that I would not be able to operate as I intended and was led to believe prior to taking on the role."

Interesting choice of words there. Something going on behind the scenes? Tactical emails from the owner, perhaps?
  • He didn't exactly look like he was going to do much there anyway, 1 win in 7 games.
  • Neville, Henry, Scholes. Pundits doing really in management!

  • How long was he there for?

I suspect he will have been on longer holidays...
  • How long was he there for?
    31 days.
  • Tosser, jumped before he was sacked, one win in seven, he could see where it was going.
  • It suddenly became clear I couldn’t do the job I was employed to do so I left very quickly and hope no one notices if I try to get back into management.
  • Shorter than Les Reed...

    Short managerial reigns

    • Brian Clough, Leeds - 44 days, eight games - 20 Jul to 13 Sept 1974
    • Les Reed, Charlton - 41 days, eight games - 14 Nov to 23 Dec 2006
    • Alex McLeish, Nottingham Forest - 40 days, seven games - 27 Dec 2012 to 5 Feb 2013
    • Steve Coppell, Manchester City - 33 days, six games - 6 Oct to 8 Nov 1996
    • Paul Scholes, Oldham Athletic - 31 days, seven games - 11 Feb to 14 Mar 2019
    • Paul Hart, QPR - 28 days, five games - 17 Dec 2009 to 15 Jan 2010
    • Micky Adams, Swansea - 13 days, three games - 9 Oct to 22 Oct 1997

  • Reading more into it, it seems the owner had far more of an input on team matters than Scholes was willing to allow. As manager (and having worked under Fergie his whole career) he expected full control over team matters but apparently the owner even gave new contracts to some players without Scholes knowing.

Steve Claridge, Millwall .. 33 days, no league games
  • Marcelo Bielsa, Lazio - July 6th to July 8th 2016

    Two days.

He walked, didn’t get the sack, but he walked and was in a legal battle with Lazio as they tried to sue him for €50mil for a breach of contract. But he resigned as it was made immediately clear he would not have been allowed to do what he wanted with team and training ground matters after it had been promised prior to his appointment.

Wasn't Leroy Rosenior sacked within 10 minutes once?
He was after 10 minutes at Torquay .. supposedly the shortest managerial reign, the 'victim' of a takeover .. don't know if it is in the Guinness B of W R

  • Suspect Chris Powell could be next sadly

we all love him but he was a one club managerial wonder and he's done rather poorly in his other managerial jobs .. would just LOVE to see him back at the Valley in a coaching capacity .. that is certainly not gonna happen until Duchatelet finally slings his crooked hook
  • Could argue that Southend are in their natural position though; been a long time since they were in the Championship (one season in twenty years) and have only been back from a five year stay in League Two for a few seasons

If Douche sold, there would be a chance Powell would be back here next year. I can see a Championship club coming for Bowyer at season’s end, if we don’t go up.
