This looked like a weak storm approaching, but in the past 24 hours, it's gained strength and slowed down, which could make it a bit of a bastard. It's also going to be a direct hit. · At 5am Gold Command advised that we are now in Condition Amber: 4 wheeled vehicle’s only on the road – No routine calls for service.
· You will be notified when we enter Condition Red which is: No patrols on the road, emergency vehicles will only be dispatched on a risk assessment and only to save lives.
1. Airport is closed, and aims to reopen at 12 noon Fri-14-Oct-2016
2. Gas stations closed
3. The Causeway closed
4. The Causeway will be closed for the duration of Hurricane Nicole. Please allow the appropriate time for emergency personnel to assess the bridge prior to its reopening.
5. Residents can be assured that the Causeway will be continually assessed throughout the storm.
6. Government schools closed, reopen Monday
7. Government offices closed, reopen Friday.
8. Out of an abundance of caution the EMO is strongly advising residents/motorists to stay off the roads as of 10 pm Wednesday night until the all clear has been given by the relevant emergency agencies.
9. The Royal Bermuda Regiment will deploy personnel around the Island starting Wednesday evening.
10. St John have ambulances deployed around the island
11. The Government Shelter at CedarBridge Academy is open
12. The Lamb Foggo Urgent Care Facility will remain open through the duration of the storm.
13. The Emergency Broadcast Station (100.1 FM) will be on the air from 10.00 p.m. until, and will be providing updates on the hour and half hour.
14. The EMO will reconvene a meeting Friday afternoon following the passage of the storm.
15. The public is encouraged to stay tuned to regular updates on FM 100.1 or weather.bm, gov.bm or via the EMO FaceBook and Twitter platforms.
