Good morning folks, I'll be watching the game on TV, if anyone wants to do the match thread updates then please feel free to do so. I hope we can at least put on an entertaining game for the cameras and 3 points would be handy!!

As I feared but didn't want to see, 2 lumbering full backs converted to central midfielders playing on the wing.

Oh to have Ceballos back, someone remind me why he is on loan to STTV again?

No Holmes. This is going to be bleak.

Who plays where in that midfield? That's four centre miss, isn't it?

May be the worst starting line up I've seeN in my time watching Charlton. Circumstantial of course as even for our basket case of a club it's unfortunate to lose all four of your creative players at the same time. But dear oh dear what a dull looking line up. At least it's a horrible wet day which might be a bit of a leveller.
  • All 3 neutral Sky viewers decide to go shopping instead
  • You'd have thought Aribo would be a better choice on the bench than one of the three centre-backs.

Looking a the bench it goes to show how shallow our squad is when we have 2 or 3 players out .

I'll do goal updates (assuming there are some) for those following the thread
  • Dull dull dull team. Ulvestad is our only hope of anything creative. Bench is defence heavy as well with 3 more central defenders. Our only hope is to somehow manage to score once and then defend well. Lucky for us Swindon are in pretty poor form and you never know Ajose going back to former club might inspire him!!

TOWN STARTING XI | Vigouroux; Furlong, Rossi-Branco, Jones, Ormonde-Ottewill; Kasim (C), Thomas; Murray, Doughty, Goddard; Norris.

    Jackson left, Foley right :-(
  • Thats bad news Ricky Holmes just shows you how thin the squard is.Guess the best is come away with a point.

Katrien when you see Roland in the next few days get him to pull his fingar out.

PS...Hope also it is a one way ticket you brought also.......best birthday present ever...

This will be painful viewing. And agree with hg 3 centre backs on the bench is a joke, you don't even need 2.

Family friend plays for Swindon (Luke Norris no. 33). He is their striker and hasn't yet scored for them this year in the league.

U just know what's gonna happen.....

Weird that he's not in the 18, and that RCC who made his debut a year ago is playing in the U23s when we are so short in midfield/wide positions

    Certainly one of the slowest.

A number of thoughts just came into my head, but no, I'm not going there, even for cheap entertainment and innuendo this wintry morning.

  • I didn't realise until about 15mins ago the clocks have changed back home..... Grrrr

No match thread from me, watching it.
The team shows how thin the squad is to cope with a normal seasons ups and downs.
Looks as if the same old same old is happening. Hope I am wrong, I want a win.
  • I'm sitting here at home in the warm with a coffee, sky at the ready.

Huge respect to anyone who has travelled and paid £25 for the privilege of watching this line-up and is now soaked to the skin.

With the four absentees not much choice left for him to be honest, opting for experience irrespective of balance in the team.

We start with a point and RS is putting his faith in experience to at least take that from the game. Presumably JJ will be taking all set pieces today and who knows we might nick something from one of those, let's hope we don't go a goal down though and end up having to chase the game. COYRs.

    From Rich Cawley on twitter-:
Team selection today for Slade is a massive pain. Not got any natural width to team. Will have to play narrow in midfield.

She tried to use injuries as an excuse last season, look at the squad again when 3 or 4 are out. Stupid twats will never learn. Surely with that squad we should be playing 3 centre backs and 2 wing backs.

Why do we need 4 defenders on the bench

Could maybe use Solly and Fox as our width?

They're better down the wings than Jackson and Foley at least.
  • Maybe we should have played 3 at the back with Solly and Fox wing backs considering the players we had available
