Interesting from Robinson. Only last May Leeds were interested in Robinson being their new manager, but after talks with them he turned down Championship football to stay with relegated MK Dons.
Did he want job security and thought Leeds were a bad option?
He won't get Job Security here with the owner here. I could understand a 56 year old joining us a last job payday/payoff, but not a 36 year old that could be in the game for the next 20 years. Don't commit career suicide.
Is it professional suicide though ? He dies well and he's a hero. He fails miserably and the club is a basket case where Alex Ferguson couldn't make it work.
I suppose if KM kills them off they can't be bitter ex-employees

I'm sure his decision making was easier when he had the security of the MK Dons job to back him up.
He's out of work now, and probably realises he can't be too picky about his next job

That being said , he must know that if he bides his time by a month or two - there will be atleast 2 or 3 jobs that are at less 'basket-case' clubs!
I will tell you all now Karl Robinson bought a house on the site I work on and he was one of my customers! He would regularly invite me in for breakfast and we would discuss the relegation dogfight we were both in at the time! Genuinely really really nice guy and has a lovely family! Just very honest and confident in his own abilities which I think comes off the wrong way sometimes!
Where is the site, if you don't mind me asking?
And was it usually a fry up or a continental?
A development called Oakgrove which is about a 5 minute drive from the centre of Milton Keynes.
It was usually a bacon sandwich and a cup of coffee mate.
All jokes aside, he is a really nice fella! I was certainly one of those who didn't take to him much before but meeting him certainly changed my opinion.
I actually think he was mistreated at Dons he was never given a huge squad to work with and worked wonders to get them promoted! I would quite like him at Charlton as he thrives within a club that has a good academy!
The bottom line is however, I don't want anyone at the club who could be remotely successful unless this regime packs up and leaves!
Ugh, woken up after a nice Sunday morning lie in to discover we're linked with Karl Robinson. Annoying little man whose teams are very defensive. Better than what we had. I'm still more interested in giving young coaches a go, even if (or possibly especially if) they're foreign. I have no interest in another lower league British journeyman (I know Robinson spent a lot of time at MKD, but still).

Sorry but for me Sir Alex has been out the game too long now. No thanks.
I don't think any manager who comes to Charlton will be judged by other teams after their 20 odd game management career is done with.
Haven't been Karl Robinson's biggest fan, but recently I've seen a couple of interviews with him and quite warmed to him. He's got a bit of fire in his belly, and certainly wouldn't stand on the side of the pitch playing pocket billiards.
As @ValleyGary quite rightly said earlier on in the thread, he's the sort of bloke that you dislike when he is in oposistion but the sort you would like if he was your clubs manager (a bit like Warnock).
As an aside, he is married to a woman that was in Brookside many moons ago and I used to quite fancy her. (Ann-Marie Davies) At least we could have a look at her in the directors box instead of Perks, Daphne or Katie - for that reason alone, he should get the job.

The added bonus you can get comps all the whilst he's with us, can you ask for two please?!
I can't see Karl Robinson coming here, but he would be a very good appointment for where we are at the moment.
One manager I'd like us to look at is Robbie Neilson at Hearts. Very good young manager who is modern & flexible tactically, he gives young players an opportunity and likes to play good football. I think that's the type of manager we need.

Never heard of him but will keep an eye out for him

Big club with massive investment from committed owner, surely we can take a good up and coming boss from a lower league club?
Or are we only attractive to the unemployed?
Nope we also appeal to; The Stupid. The Desperate. The Delusional. Those who need shot term employment, but only till Christmas. Anyone stranded on a desert island without communication for 3 yrs. And Masochists who enjoy punishment and humiliation from Belgian Lawyers.
The problem with this constant firing of managers is we just end up hiring whoever's floating around. Curbs was right, we need to find the type of manager we want, trouble is there's no-one involved running the club capable of making that decision. It will be luck if things improve not astute decision making.

Errr. What sort of job would they be doing that they would chuck in to be manager at the Valley. The BBC reported at the weekend that we are the most toxic place for a manager to come, and the most likely to sack him shortly after arrival. Despite the protestations of the club, Katrien and the SE7 asylum, most of the football world know exactly what the state of play is at the Valley. Managers on a contract anywhere outside the lower reaches of the conference south/north are unlikely to give up a paying job to put up with the rubbish they will be asked to put up with here. Russel only came because Cardiff wouldn't let him be manager any more. Hasselbaink is unemplyed but sees that as more rewarding than a job at the Valley...

Just wondered where it was in relation to SE7.
