The young Addicks cruise into the second round of the FA Youth Cup where they will host @SUFCRootsHall. #cafc
Coincidentally, I also played in the FA Youth Cup away to Southend at Roots Hall in 1993. 25 years ago :-(
Got the runaround at right back by a lightening left winger, best player on the pitch. Sadly never noted his name but later wondered whether he went on to properly make.
For those that know, is that our first choice u18 team, or just 11 who happen to be under 18?
Mostly our u18s plus a few ringers with fake IDs like Billy Clarke and a couple of Moldovan triallists. But we tried to be fair. We did not play anyone who was both over 6 foot and over 23.
Charlton’s U18s take on Southend United in round two of the FA Youth Cup on Wednesday night.
Hosted at Welling United’s Park View Road, the match will kick-off at 7.30pm. Tickets for the first-round match at Park View Road will be available from the turnstiles on the night, priced at £3 adults and £1 U18s, while Valley Gold members can gain free entry on production of their membership cards.

Had a similar experience in 95, playing for Bromley Town in the FA youth cup.
We beat Whyteleaf 2-1 away first up, then got drawn away to Sutton Utd in the next round.
We got tonked 6-0, could easily have been 10!
The difference between us and the YTS lads at Sutton was frightening, often wondered if any of them went to make it. The same could be said of the Sittingbourne youth team that were in the Kent youth league with us.
International clearance can be farcical and can take months to sort out. It even affects youngsters moving cross border within the UK. The clearance is granted, unbelievably, by a judge in Geneva as it all falls under the jurisdiction of Fifa.

Other than GM's cousin that is!
If other clubs have Academy staff providing key updates to their academy games, surely we should have too.
