Excellent manager and the blip is out of the way. Nailed on 5-0 victory at the Valley - a packed ground will give Karl a rousing cheer as he leaves the pitch.
I enjoyed this quote: "There have been reasons for that: a new squad takes time to settle and we have had terrible luck with injuries, but the league table is there for all to see and we cannot make excuses any longer."
Or, to put it another way, "Karl cannot make excuses any longer."
There don't seem to be any post-match comments from Robinson yet, so I presume he's still talking.
I did a 20 match accumulator on Saturday. Got 19/20 on a mixture of football and rugby matches. The one match to let me down was Oxford / Plymouth. Typical Robinson.. totally unreliable. Return would have been in excess of £4K

To get 19 teams right is outrageous - I can barely get 3!!

Most of them were big odds on. I just had a few that could of gone either way. If Freddie Burns had scored that try, it would've been 18/20. So I got lucky in that respect
Former Spain and Barcelona midfielder Xavi says he finds watching teams that play 4-5-1 boring. Karl Robinson said he won promotion from the 3rd tier in England and what has Xavi ever won.

Robinson doesn't play 4-5-1. If he did it would be a miracle.

He plays 4-2-3-1
Your so pedantic ! When J Da Silva was attacking at the valley last season and no one covered him we seemed to have 5 behind big Josh. Thanks for spoiling my Robinson tale (Henry entered into Sam's little black book)
Whilst it’s clear Oxford are on a good run, fact of the matter is they’re 20th after having a whole summer to prepare and signing players with the calibre of Holmes and Mackie. Unless they finish top 8 or 10 they’ve had a bad season with a bad coach.
Turned it round just in time to save his job and get the fans off his back. Good run will peter out shortly, mediocrity will return, followed by outright shiteness. They'll hate him again by the end of the season.
Have to say, reading his press conferences after they've won is excruciating. Ego the size of Mourinho's, with zero on his CV to justify it.
Normal service resumed on Saturday, with a 2-0 defeat at bottom-of-the-table Bradford.
A few familiar themes in his post-match press conference -
“I said to them Bradford have got good players, they shouldn’t be where they are." - reminiscent of ""Everybody knows Bury are in a false position" after we drew 1-1 with them. Bury were ultimately relegated, 15 points from safety, so that doesn't bode very well for Bradford.
“The players are disappointed, frustrated, they’re honest, and it will hurt them, but that’s not a bad thing and I know I’ll get a response on Tuesday.” - I wonder if that'll be the same "caged animals" response he promised us at Gillingham following the 0-3 defeat to Wigan?
I must say, it's nice to be able to dissect a post-defeat Karl Robinson interview on a Monday morning. I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed it. Reasonably confident of enjoying some more drivel on Wednesday following a home defeat to Rochdale tomorrow.
Great Karl quotes from the past:
"I'm not a short-term manager, that's never been something I'm very good at, my style doesn't actually allow short-term success."

Despite being 3-0 up they went on to draw 3-3

...or long term success. Or medium-term success.
